To store, cracker dry. To eat, doesn't matter. Eat em now or dry them for later. I would recommend if you are going to eat them now, eat some and dry the rest because you'll be in for the ride of a lifetime if you eat all of those. Next time grab the stems too. They are just as active as the caps

Will they spawn tomorrow? What do you mean?
First time. Wet, 25 grams. Dry, 2.5 grams

Really nice first active find. Enjoy your first trip too. Always a good vibe picking your own. I'd consider doubling back to your spot to scoop up the stems and any cubies you missed.

Just bring scissors when you pick and leave a small stem butt in ground/dung as to not disturb the mycelium too much.

Always good to leave some to reproduce/ for others as azur said. Also careful about telling/showing people your spot. Or don't do it. word travels fast and it could increase tension with landowner, draw law enforcement and lead to it being picked out.

Haha that's funny. Well know you know. Generally a good idea to let them open up and drop spore. Apparently there is a bit of variance in potency through the life cycle but a larger mature specimen will ultimately have more psilocybin because of the size. Definitely re-check your spot in a few days or after some rain.
They will likely continue in that field for possibly many years. I learned of some of my spots from a guy that picked them in the 70's and was nice to share locations, some of which still produce well.
