I see a lot of casings with nice tall fat mushrooms, i just recently started casing, my thing is that whenever i do case we get a lot of pins and the grow to be no more than 1.5 inches to 2 inches tall with 20 or more mushrooms on them. What could be the reason for this ? I case with coir and verm,

And you run clean agar to grains or what's your method?

Use more sub to increase supplied water, get better field capacity, or supply more water. Better genetics helps a lot as well. Take 2 dozen clones and one should be stellar. Keep that one.

My method is using LC of ecuador, to grain (Whole Grain Organic Wheat), once fully colonized i use coir and verm mix to case it using a bottom and top layer. My fruiting chamber is a clear tub and i have a cool mist attached to it also along with perlite on the bottom where we put the cased quart bin and a rack goes over it where cakes and 1 quart cases can fit on also. We dont use any light source for it is by a sunny window where it gets pretty warm and lighted (florida Weather)

Yeah double ended cased grain is a pretty shit method. You would be better served to mix the spawn with the coir verm which will supply water far better. Use a coir verm casing if you like but definitely mix up the sub evenly.

perlite and a cool mist? why? sounds like there also may not be any holes for FAE?

Yeah he sounds like he is growing in 1994. Read some stuff written in this century.

well the cool mist isnt on always on 15 to 20 minutes every few hours. so Are you suggesting to get rid of the humidifier completely or get rid of the perlite either method doesnt make a difference its still humidity and yes there are plenty of holes we could try to add more, the first flush is the one that gets the smaller mushrooms but produce an oz or a lil more, but we have tried both casing the verm coir mix and just casing the results have been about the same for us. I can upload a pic link to show.

I suggest you start over with proven methods developed in this century. Grains spawned (mixed not layered) to coir and verm in a monotub is pretty easy to dial in and see good results.

so if i increase my sub, add more FAE, mix the sub with the spawn instead of casing this should probably fix this ? I guess well continue with the mixing of the substrate and spawn is what youre saying ?

Sure. Ditch the automated setup as well. They really only work well for a greenhouse and a greenhouse is a lot of dialing in and tweaking for something as hearty and CO2 tolerant as cubes. Do monotubs. Easier to dial in, far less monitoring needed and far cheaper to construct.
