Possible Gymnopilus junonius id request
    #23528539 - 08/10/16 03:23 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Habitat: it was found growing up next to an old stump in the woods. I found it in southeast tenneesse (about 40 minute drive to Georgia border)

Gills: the gills were a very light brown and they were subdecurrent, they were also pretty crowded
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.

Stem:the stem was about 1-2 inches long and was mostly dark brown and i could see very small fibers on it, it was solid on the inside and the stem was pretty thick

Cap: it was about 7cm across the top, it was light brown on the outside and got darker towards the center, the cap was also dryer and had small fibers on it, it had a flat to convex type shape.

Spore print color: the print was a lighter brown

Bruising: after 30-60 the edge of one of the caps had slight blue bruising but that was it.

Other information: I felt that everything about the mushrooms fit the description of the Gymnopilus junonius except there was not one of those fleshly rings below any of the caps.
