Should I dunk w/ tap, filtered tap, or personal drinking water (alkaline).? Would an acidic or an alkaline cake yield more fruit.?

Not making light of your question, whatsoever. Waiting for those who are knowledgeable about this topic to continue the dialogue, in order to learn more about the different effects each type of water may have.

Cakes like tap water. A pH of 7 would be fine.

Well if they're cool w/ tap, I'm sure they digest calcium somehow

Makes their teeth strong
Ph7-8 seems OK my tap water is more ph8 have no issues although it took me months of failed weed grows to learn the tap water was slightly alkaline here At a previous address the water was bang on 7 so I know from 7-7.8 is good to be exact

Calcium is the most abundant nutrient in soil. Just was not sure if mushies require calcium for cell walls like cannabis.

I'm sure more alkaline water makes things more mold resistant too or at least less fun for it

I always dunk in drinking water. Cubes prefer acidic substrates tho, but at the same time so do most molds. That is why people prefer to pH adjust casings to 8.5 because cubes can tolerate it while molds can't germinate on it.
Realistically tho if it's colonized clean and whatnot, dunking in tap water will be just fine. I doubt the pH of the water effects the yield. I'd be more concerned about conditions and genetics.

What about cakes would it be beneficial or at least worth a go to see what happens if I was to dunk one of my soon to be ready cakes in a ph8-ph8.5 water see what happens yeild contams etc? I don't mind experimenting Maybe I'll do a grow in a spare jar and begin with ph8.5 water with verm brf?

This was the idea behind dunking alkaline, but I heard if the cakes are well developed by birth their immune systems are enough to carry them through fruiting. So the acidic environment may not be enough to spawn mold at that stage. I'll experiment
