Reccomend me a new phone

So I went camping the other night and my HTC one got wet and stopped working, I have an upgrade available and a decent amount of $ saved up.
What would you get? What is the best phone currently available and what is the best deal?
Main features I am looking for include:
long battery life Upgradeable and or large memory High quality audio Solid camera Waterproof?
Anything besides that is extra.
Please discuss, I am browsing phones now. Oh yeah almost forgot, I have verizon and don't intend to switch for now.
-------------------- Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

A Nexus 5x can be had for a steal if you commit to Project Fi. No expandable memory but excellent $ for $.

I have a Droid Turbo II. Battery lasts for a good 3 days if you're not on it constantly, but even if you are the battery lasts more than a day and a half. Screen is supposedly uncrackable/shatterproof, or they'll replace it free. 22 MP camera which is pretty nice, I've gotten prints of some of the photos from my phone, comes with 32 or 64 gb, and has an extra slot for up to 128 gb sd chip. Audio is pretty decent from the speaker. Enough to watch videos and hear the sound from the video for sure.

Was considering that as I have heard good things and it is pretty cheap, for twice the price I could get an htc 10 though which apparently has great audio.

I was looking at those earlier, definitely a contender. Didn't realize the camera was 22MP though that is very nice

MP isn't everything, Htc's top phones are 4mp. This doesn't relate to the quality of a pic. and besides that, of course the newest one is going to be advertised as great audio. Every single year they say the same thing, it's slightly better. BUt it's really not worth the price unless you don't mind blowing your money. Something such as the s5 will completely satisfy you, i promise. I say, don't give into the capitalist greed in wanting the absolute best and paying so much for it. But hey, that's just me. do whatever you want.

I know its not everything I just am impressed by how much they have improved over the years
I have also seen the audio claims in the past so don't worry I will not spend an extra 100$ just becouse of that.
Right now I am leaning towards the HTC 10 or the G5 becouse both have a ton of expandable storage but I will take some more time to look around and compare.
Like I said I have an upgrade and some extra spending money so I wouldn't mind spending a few hundred $ if its worth it.
But I may just get the G5 and spend the extra $ on upgrading its storage to as close to the 2 TB capacity as I possibly can

Just out of curiosity, what's the desire for so much space on your phone about?
I have several TB for my computer because I hoard, but it's kind of needless on your phone.

Music, I tend to fill up all the space I have available with music so having at least a few hundred gigs with the option for more would be amazing
I was considering just buying a 1-2 TB external hardrive to try plugging my phone into and playing music from but that could get annoying.
The HTC10 is almost winning me over with its interesting "sound profile" feature as well as some other interesting audio stuff I have not seen elsewhere.

You could also get a cheap $50 computer with several TB of hard drives installed on it and create a remote music server. I've done it before, it's pretty easy to set up.
No one makes 1TB sd cards yet, only 512 as far as I am aware. Granted, 500 gb is still a lot of music.

Care to explain how a remote music server would work? Part of the reason I would love so much space is to have a ton of music for camping/ roatrips n stuff.

I noticed that sadly, the biggest I could find was like 250$ too I can live with less for now though until they are cheaper.
Also I forgot to mention, a large chunk of my music collection is in FLAC's which I could convert to a compressed format for my phone but I would rather not.

You can use a program like Plex or XBMC to set up your server. Then as long as you have an internet connection to the computer in question and as long as your phone has signal, you can log into the program to access your media.
https://www.plex.tv/
Easy to set up. I'd recommend a direct LAN connection to the computer with at least 1MB upload speed.

Pretty sure I was reading reviews on their site earlier of a few of those candidates. The htc10 is still calling to me regardless of its shortcomings.

I'd go HTC myself, cause they're good, but mostly cause it's the only brand of smartphone I've ever used. I know them well, and I like the way they work.
Plus, I'm not a big fan of change. I'm trying to avoid them pushing me onto Microsoft Office 365 at work (currently on 2010) because why fix what aint broke?

I feel like these software companies that are starting to use the pay per month pricing plans, such as microsoft and adobe (and many others) are mostly doing so because they don't have much to add to their programs anymore in a way that wouldn't drastically change the programs. Like, the differences between one version of Microsoft office to the next version are so unnecessary that they don't actually prompt people to pay for an upgrade, because it's unnecessary.
Same with Photoshop and the whole adobe suite really. Those programs are well put together, well established, and do everything they need to. CS5 worked well enough that upgrading to CS6 wasn't financially sound.
Hence, these pricing schemes are a new way to cash in on existing software that often gets pirated anyway, and which offer little value for upgrades.

So I got my HTC 10 finally yesterday, so far I have put 90~ gigs of music on it and have another 22~ free
Have yet to really test it out much but I am digging it so far. Will take some pics today to test the camera and report back.
Some things are different layout wise then on my old HTC but I am already used to most of them. The charger is new and seems much better then the old ones.

Yeah I will pretty much always stick with the galaxies, I love em and I like to root em an mod em but right now the s7 is too new there are not many mods for it right now to play with the cpu speed and gpu speed among other things. It can play any game on the market though right now at great framerates.
Android is awesome though compared to the apple os because it's essentially Linux and with a rooted android phone there is so much flexibility it's like a computer.

I have always wanted to try rooting a phone but my old HTC one did not have a root function from what I could tell. Maybe this one does.
That is one thing that sucks about having the newest phones, they are always the toughest to mod and crack But they can do the coolest things
My new phone has more computing power then my computer

Homing pigeon ftw! i was just about to post that
Samsungs are reliable and durable past the s3, Iphones are great and solid if youre more of a mac person. Most big serious smartphones are great, HTC is ok too, but they are personally unappealing.

So I got the 64gb sd card I ordered off ebay the other day. Finally got around to filling it and realized it was a fake
Thankfully it was only 17$ and I got the seller to give me a 14$ refund to be fair since it still was an 8gb card and they paid for shipping
But I took the refund and bought a 30$ 128gb card from a better site which hopefully will work better. Phone is still working fine. Here's some pics I took:

Fairly certain I told you to pay the extra $10-20 to get a Sandisk.
To save you from issues like this. I did explicitly warn you that was a 95% chance of happening with a cheap SD card.
The $30 128GB one "from a better site"... what brand is it? If it's another no-name, chances are good it was made in the same factory you got the first one.

I second the note 3, they are around 150 bucks right now and amazing.. You could hack this thing and make a drone with smart bombs this thing is soo intense. Has built in temp sensors, pressure sensor/barometer, humidity sensor(all local on the phone not over the internet) face detection, gyro, gps, list goes on and on and on.. all of the photos in my signature were taken with it the camera is amazing, does slowmo videos too these pictures are ones I took with the note 3, same position, different focal points by taping on a different area on the screen

From ebay? General rule of thumb, don't buy electronics on ebay. There's a LOT of counterfeits.
I pretty much guarantee that was a counterfeit if it's only showing 8GB and you bought a 64.
I've been burned before too from ebay multiple times. SD cards, batteries, phone chargers. They are GOOD at making cheap fakes that look exactly like the originals. So my rule of thumb is never buy electronics on ebay.
I probably should have warned you about ebay. Some things ebay is good for. SD cards and 18650 batteries and similar.. not so much. Those are markets that are FLOODED with counterfeits, so it's important to get it from a reliable vendor.

Do not get a Sony phone. They are shit.
I buy used phones off ebay because I am really rough with them and break them all the time. Right now I'm on a LG G4 and so far it is a really good phone. It's incrediblly light, but its a little too big. I think I got it for $150

I just found out my 5s has bent! what the fack... I looked it up and found that the iPhone 6 is even more prone to bending, but not so much the 6s which has almost twice the thickness at crucial points. My interest in mac phones has taken a hit.

Unless you paid 25-35 for it, chances are pretty good its a clone. Clones are very hit and miss IME. I've NEVER had a good long term experience with a clone RDA.. but I've heard some people that have Tobecos are supposed to make pretty good clones. For me, when it comes to mods... it's authentic or bust. I have a bunch of clones from when I first started and was experimenting... they caused me nothing but headaches.. so I'll spend the extra for authentic. I won't / didn't however... ever pay 100+ for a fucking mech mod. Fuck that shit. When I did mech mods I would get clones.. because it's just a freaking tube of metal and I refuse to pay $80+ for a 6" tube of metal with a switch on principle. RDAs are a different story. Plus there's tons of authentic RDAs that only cost around 30-40, so it doesn't really make much sense to me to pay $5-10 or whatever for a clone which more than likely is gonna suck.
But who knows, maybe it's a good one.

I have had good and bad experienced buying electronics on ebay I think the real key is not buying cheap electronics on ebay.

check sells reviews, get something with a 14 day return so you can test the crap out of it.. They will gladely exchange your phone if something was wrong too prevent negative ratings. I buy off from ebay about 3 times a week. You can message the seller directly if need be, it's legit..
