Reccomend me a new phone

So I went camping the other night and my HTC one got wet and stopped working, I have an upgrade available and a decent amount of $ saved up.
What would you get? What is the best phone currently available and what is the best deal?
Main features I am looking for include:
long battery life Upgradeable and or large memory High quality audio Solid camera Waterproof?
Anything besides that is extra.
Please discuss, I am browsing phones now. Oh yeah almost forgot, I have verizon and don't intend to switch for now.
-------------------- Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

A Nexus 5x can be had for a steal if you commit to Project Fi. No expandable memory but excellent $ for $.

I have a Droid Turbo II. Battery lasts for a good 3 days if you're not on it constantly, but even if you are the battery lasts more than a day and a half. Screen is supposedly uncrackable/shatterproof, or they'll replace it free. 22 MP camera which is pretty nice, I've gotten prints of some of the photos from my phone, comes with 32 or 64 gb, and has an extra slot for up to 128 gb sd chip. Audio is pretty decent from the speaker. Enough to watch videos and hear the sound from the video for sure.

Was considering that as I have heard good things and it is pretty cheap, for twice the price I could get an htc 10 though which apparently has great audio.

I was looking at those earlier, definitely a contender. Didn't realize the camera was 22MP though that is very nice

MP isn't everything, Htc's top phones are 4mp. This doesn't relate to the quality of a pic. and besides that, of course the newest one is going to be advertised as great audio. Every single year they say the same thing, it's slightly better. BUt it's really not worth the price unless you don't mind blowing your money. Something such as the s5 will completely satisfy you, i promise. I say, don't give into the capitalist greed in wanting the absolute best and paying so much for it. But hey, that's just me. do whatever you want.

I know its not everything I just am impressed by how much they have improved over the years
I have also seen the audio claims in the past so don't worry I will not spend an extra 100$ just becouse of that.
Right now I am leaning towards the HTC 10 or the G5 becouse both have a ton of expandable storage but I will take some more time to look around and compare.
Like I said I have an upgrade and some extra spending money so I wouldn't mind spending a few hundred $ if its worth it.
But I may just get the G5 and spend the extra $ on upgrading its storage to as close to the 2 TB capacity as I possibly can

Just out of curiosity, what's the desire for so much space on your phone about?
I have several TB for my computer because I hoard, but it's kind of needless on your phone.

Music, I tend to fill up all the space I have available with music so having at least a few hundred gigs with the option for more would be amazing
I was considering just buying a 1-2 TB external hardrive to try plugging my phone into and playing music from but that could get annoying.
The HTC10 is almost winning me over with its interesting "sound profile" feature as well as some other interesting audio stuff I have not seen elsewhere.

You could also get a cheap $50 computer with several TB of hard drives installed on it and create a remote music server. I've done it before, it's pretty easy to set up.
No one makes 1TB sd cards yet, only 512 as far as I am aware. Granted, 500 gb is still a lot of music.

Care to explain how a remote music server would work? Part of the reason I would love so much space is to have a ton of music for camping/ roatrips n stuff.

I noticed that sadly, the biggest I could find was like 250$ too I can live with less for now though until they are cheaper.
Also I forgot to mention, a large chunk of my music collection is in FLAC's which I could convert to a compressed format for my phone but I would rather not.

You can use a program like Plex or XBMC to set up your server. Then as long as you have an internet connection to the computer in question and as long as your phone has signal, you can log into the program to access your media.
https://www.plex.tv/
Easy to set up. I'd recommend a direct LAN connection to the computer with at least 1MB upload speed.

I always use Techradar when making such decisions. They seem to me to be the most thorough and unbiased of the review sites out there:
