What is the ideal temp range for spawning p. cubensis? (Penis Envy specifically)

Doing the PODS Tek (with grass seed) and inoculated some jars with multispore syringe of Penis Envy and some jars with rye-grain grown in spawn bags.
I know everyone says "room temperature" but room temperature is well over 80F on most days where I live during the day. It's going to be in the 90's for several days as well.
So, I got a portable A/C for that one room. Should I keep the room below 80F? I reckon it will be more ideal for bacteria to take over if it's above 80F. I want the temp that will be ideal for it to colonize. And if anyone has any idea if penis envy enjoys a different temperature range, that would be nice to know.

A cube is a cube. Strain is pretty much irrelevant in my experience.
You can colonize anywhere from 70-78 degrees ambient room temp without affecting things too greatly. If you colonize in low 70s, expect colonization to be slightly slower, but much more resistant to being contaminated by bacteria or mold. If you colonize in the high 70s, you will notice slightly faster colonization, but there may be an increased risk for bacterial contaminants. Anything above 80 F ambient air temp is just asking for contamination. Also, after a certain point, the heat will be detrimental to mycelial growth and actually colonize slower than if you where to colonize in the 70s.
I've repeated this experiment many times, and have had the above results time and time again as confirmation.

Penis Envy is still psilocybe cubensis it doesn't have different parameters..
My temperature range preference is 65-75 with 68-72 being most ideal
PE does do best on a bulk substrate not on cakes or jars though

Yeah, I should have mentioned some like to colonize in the mid to high 60s. I don't like to though, It's just too slow for me.

TY Mushierage for the awesome post!
And thank you Trusted Cultivator!
So I guess a good medium is 75F. That sucks though since it will be quite hot for the next month and I will have to use the A/C and use energy in that regards, but it is what it is.
Quick question that's always interested me that you guys may help answer. It's more technical but if PE is cubensis (a cube is a cube)... why is it so different in both growing times, especially the delay it has to fruiting and the difference in the actual "trip" experience if you ingest it. (The visuals and cleanless of the high is unlike any other "strain" I've tried.) So I wonder if it's possible it's psilocybe but not a cubensis species but nobody really knows yet?

It's because it's a mutant strain. PE is kind of it's own breed of animal when it comes to fruiting.

What does mutant strain actually mean? What makes it a mutant and how does that differ from species designations?

You'll have to ask somebody with more experience with PE, but I believe it's a mutated strain of cube that was isolated some years back. Not sure what the origin strain was.

There's broken genetics hence it usually looking dick shaped. It still outs out normal fruits now and then. Potency may be from being a little slower or the genetics involved with penis shape have an effect on potency too. Who knows. They're not twice as strong sometimes they are normal strength anyway. They're usually more potent though

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutation
Quote:
In biology, a mutation is the permanent alteration of the nucleotide sequence of the genome of an organism, virus, or extrachromosomal DNA or other genetic elements. Mutations result from damage to DNA which then may undergo error-prone repair (especially microhomology-mediated end joining[1]), or cause an error during other forms of repair,[2][3] or else may cause an error during replication (translesion synthesis). Mutations may also result from insertion or deletion of segments of DNA due to mobile genetic elements.[4][5][6] Mutations may or may not produce discernible changes in the observable characteristics (phenotype) of an organism. Mutations play a part in both normal and abnormal biological processes including: evolution, cancer, and the development of the immune system, including junctional diversity.
The differences between mutations within a species and between different species are pretty stark. Would having grey or orange eyes instead of blue or green eyes, or genes for a gigantic shlong, or small hands, make you not a homo sapiens sapiens? Would either of those mutations likely effect the temperature at which you're comfortable?

You can spawn in any temperature. You wanna colonize in temps around 70 . I'd bring the AC in and keep it constantly under 80. Colonizing closer to the ground would also help them stay cooler.

My pe will blow your fucking doors off, or if you prefer, melt your face off every time. The other strains I have fruited have always been good, lots of variety as far as feedback from strain to strain, this one better body buzz that one more visual ect ect. My experience with pe potency is that of a gram will get you as high or higher than an eighth of any other. I also believe the pe buzz last longer, with a longer afterglow as well. Also worth noting is that I have seen people get high from pe four days in a row so it seems to lack the usual tolerance build up as well.
I like to keep my ambient temps below 74F at all times.

Nice! Yea that has been my experience with PE as well. I am making sure it never goes above 80 now. Thanks

I have no temperature control so I get fluctuations between 60-95F... Haven't noticed a problem anywhere in that range. Contam risk is higher in the high 80s and above though.

In Paul Stamet's book, The Mushroom Cultivator...
He states the growth parameters for PC to keep a substrate temperature of 84-86F. And to keep that temperature into the Post Casing phase....
it seems that this temp isnt optimum for speedy growth....
The book also notes the Pinning phase and Cropping phase to drop temp to 74-78F.
My Question to you all.... is: is this book so obviously wrong?
A Gnome is trying to grow PE, and has kept the spawning substrate at 84-86F and things seem slow.....
Also A Gnome is starting the pinning phase in a mono tub, and is wondering is 74-78F the right temp.

Those temps seem reasonable and you'll find similar information on this forum regarding temps. I can't give specific advice on PE though, just a note that from what I've seen of others experiences, it is a slow grower.
