anyone know what causes gnarly stipes?  I harvested a couple yesterday that have no PE in them at all. they were massive though.

on a side note, I may have fucked up a 90g fruit clone because I forgot to flame my tweezers... they got sanitized though
cant take pictures till tuesday when my wireless phone charger gets here. the port won't work because it thinks there's moisture in it... I've had it cleaned 3 times. he even put it under the scope the last time he cleaned it

Run through the dehydrator on a medium setting over night if it's really due to moisture. That worked for me with an USB thumb drive I've found in the washing machine... :crazy2:

Hey there!

First time grower here.  Just starting getting some pins on my cakes.  I know I've made many mistakes along the way trying to bling out the wheels and this well oiled machine but I'm glad I've made it this far.

After three chamber changes, I have 10 out of 12 cakes left and they are all pinning right now.  Some are doing better than other (visually that is).  So I'm looking for some direction and education on what I'm seeing.

I have some pins that bursted out that WOW and then there are some small pins and smaller pins.

So what about the small and smaller pins?  Will they most likely abort the mission?  If so, what do I do?  Or do I just keep sending them love and light and hope they grow up to be great messengers?

I've attached pics.

Thanks!

I transferred my first slant and it’s been growing about 2 weeks. It’s not yet over the entire surface of the agar.

How long do I let it colonize before putting in the fridge?

It was about 10-11 mL of my normal agar mix tilded at an angle. APE clone I want to save and practice for some of my edibles.

Not much you can do about uneven pinning, process of pinning is already initiated and now all you can do now is keep a desirable micro climate for the sub so it doesn't need to stress any more. At least you ended up with a fruiting chamber that's pretty hard to fuck. Gl

You don't want it to cover the entire surface (although this depends on how angled your slant is). You want to get enough growth to ensure it's clean and then you put it in to slow it down. I'm far from an expert, but I'd probably let it get to a quarter size or so and hopefully onto the wood.

Edit: I'm trying to find stuff to corroborate not reaching full colonization before fridge, but can't find anything. Frank lets his go 100%, though. I don't think there's an issue with either, but I prefer before 100%.

Also, if it's going slower or stalled, make sure you don't have too much Parafilm on it because you might be suffocating it. If not that, you may have the cap on too tight. I had 2 slants stall out and 2 others cover the entire inside (all left at room temp). I stood all 4 up together and noticed the 2 which didn't stall were slightly taller than the stalled. Definitely think the cap was too tight.

And did you dry a bag of rice? Or actual desiccant?

I tried rice for about 24 hours then took it to the computer guy. told him what happened, it hasn't been submerged for about a month

Rice does absolutely nothing. It's one of the dumbest thing to do.

This video explains it.

I made it about 9 seconds until the dude called it a "labtop." I fail to see how putting a phone in air-tight Tupperware, separated from a desiccant/rice would be an issue. But I'm not watching 16 minutes to figure it out either.

I've seen hundreds of liquid damaged devices. Rice is for food, not performing repairs. If you don't have someone open your device and physically remove all traces of liquid, you're only cheating yourself and increasing the likelihood any leftover moisture can begin to corrode whatever components its on. Usually the MOBO and daughterboard since theyre usually the largest pieces aside from batteries. If you have an iphone the dock usually costs less than 10$ and takes about 15 min to install. Same price with samsung but the way it needs to applied makes the success rate insanely low due to having to lift the display for the navigational buttons.

I sad rice or traditional desiccant. If my phone thinks there's a bit of moisture in the port, I am absolutely putting it in something air-tight with some sort of desiccant before it gets taken apart. There's a difference between "phone thinks there's moisture in port" and "I dropped my phone in the lake yesterday" or whatever. Anyway, enough of a derail.

Just checking my tubs this morning and noticed this here (center of pic above left of pin)

It wasn't there last night, at least I didn't see it. Can I safely get the first flush out of it before fucking it out?
