Just wanted to say thank you this site is a wealth of information, for the past 10 years I have done well with cultivation in plants, I figured last week I would give ye ol shrooms a go. Took the time going through this site to figure out what I needed to start, built a glove box, got all supplies needed to preform PF Tek ordered the spores I wanted from....received the in 3 days prepared my substrate, sterilized and let the sit for a few days to make sure they were contamination free, preformed inoculation. Behold 3 days later mycelium.
I do have 1 question what is the optimum temperature for germination/ mycelium growth, I have read conflicting numbers and reasons. I know mother nature isn't perfect and they will be fine but slow in 60 degree temps my house is 70in the cold months I realize that should be fine but everything has an optimal condition so.......?

65-75F is perfect for all stages of growth. Lower than that and growth will slow a bit and higher than that favors certain bacteria.

This forum is for actives, not edibles. So we don't mention sponsors.
If you actually were referring to shiitake, which is doubtful, then there is an edible and medicinal forum.
Whatevs though, welcome

Kind of just like everyone uses advanced nutes, 1000w MH & HPS light, light movers and irrigation automation to grow tomatoes in the basement. My bad and duly noted

Got a couple big fuckers to harvest when I get home. Looking forward to that.
Also it appears my agar is "latching on" to the WBS. Yay. I have 12 jars I need to get around to inoculating.
Think I'm gonna do LI for both runs. Slicing wedges was tedious. The LI seems much easier and less risky for a noob.

After inoculation dark or ambient light? That too is something I have noticed have contradictory reports.
In nature I would imagine that under the soil wouldn't have much light no? any ideas as too which might be better
Also plan to do a LC later today maybe tomorrow

Do these look OK? The stems look a bit off to me, is it a contaminant?

Sitting on a shelf in a room with ambient light, the info is only conflicting if you are reading 10-15 year old posts, check the dates of the info you read. Also I hope you plan on inoculating that LC with agar and not spores.

Major success for me!

I've been slacking lately. Not looking at my too many plates and stuff.
Got to looking today as I have to inoculate today. I have 4 KSSS plates that look fantastic. What's the best way to go about using multiple plates for 6 jars?

Any way you wanna go about it.. More than one way to skin a cat as they say.
I'd just use the best looking one and Li to all 6 if it were me but going off your question.. I'd cut each plate into 6 pieces, and use 4 pieces per grain jar.

I assume he's talking about the brown coloring (stripes) on the stem as possible vert or other contam. Looks good imo though
