I've got a ton of colonized 100 mm x 15 mm plates and a few fully colonized no pours. How many wedges / no pour plates would it take to effectively colonize a 5qt bag of wbs?

theres no way youd have anywhere near 2% nutrients in a 'paste'
if I win, you send me a spore print, if you do, I'll send you one, deal?
I'm not one to welsh on a bet, but I wanna see pics anyway. PM sent Husky.

Anybody seen myc in a spawn jar bruise really badly after a shake before? This batch was solid white then about 5 minutes after the shake every jar is solid blue. My theory is it must be a little dry in there. These jars are all about a month old, which makes them the oldest jars I've ever used. Think it'll recover fine spawning to bulk?

Well, its certainly not too dry. Is it due to bacteria? How much lc did you use?

The tops and edges can dry out a little or be covered in water and not colonize well.
I would give it a shake and let it recover 2-3 days, should be good to spawn after that

Big screen with a fan under it.
I'll give them a shake when I get home. Would help to see what I'm looking at I suppose

You shouldn't see that much condensation. Next to none is ideal.

Jesus I felt like I dried the shit out of them.
The temperature difference is 2 degree's from room temp. That's pretty uniform with my jars and bags (outside temp)
I talked to you about using an temp gun to measure differences. You can def tell the temp difference between a moldy bag and a good bag vice versa

Doesn't a temp gun just read the surface temp? Are you having big swings in temp in the spawn room?

Not really.
yes it does that why I said outside temp above. I assume the inside around 76-77

Not the same topic, but I was wondering if I should have condensation in my jars of oat spawn?

One of the strains I’m trying to grow right now are Ps. Cyanescens. The more I read the more I realize I probably should have waited on this strain but hopefully it works out.
I’ve been reading up on different substrates and methods of fruiting. I picked these up today and am ordering alder wood chips. You guys have any feedback?

Do 50/50, I also suggest enriching it, end pH: 7 - 7.5 (add CaCO3). You can use King oyster cultivation methods on Cyans. Since cyans are a little slow, you may prefer the no starch-sugar enrichment method, and use only cellulose.
If necessary you can colonize a cake or block indoors, and then lightly bury it outdoors.
If additional organisms are needed to fruit they can be added to the compost. Cyans do not directly require other organisms, unless they fixate.

I look at condensation in jars as an indcation of either temp swings or contamination. You really should have next to none.

There isn’t much but I fanned them for about 90 seconds last night over the FAE and that was enough to get rid of the condensation. That’s good to know it could possibly be contamination. I’ll keep a close eye on them. Thanks!
