I just cleaned my grow room. It was so nasty. You would think having it in a shower stall
would make things easier, but all those spores were a bitch to clean up. Room is 4x4 and
it took 2 hours.

Ready for my next pan grow now.

I'm going to redo my garage tent. Take the walls all the way up to the ceiling and prop up my T5 for better lighting.

More on my post:

Here are the 'basics' on Saprotrophic nutrition. Where it talks about starch you can include cellulose.
In addition, most mycelium can utilize more than just proteins as a nitrogen source.

I have expanded most of the detail in my pocket guide.

----

Here are some additional images of the requirements for O2.
Oxidants are used in decay and material production.

This is interesting the mycleium turns almost tementose like in the area with highest o2

i guess getting into the details of water droplets is inane. humidity good. dry baad. droplets should be able to stick around for a good amount of time while air flow is at a high. 90% humidity is prime. evaporation should be occurring at a rate consistent with 90% humidity. slowly

better?

@O0ZE, Without the condensate, I doubt the mycelium would have climbed up as much as it did, without drying out.
Without the condensate, the mycelium would need to push up water from the agar, which is not as ideal.

Solubles, enzymes and internal transport (and reactions) require 'X' amount of water.

Mycelium and fruit bodies still lose water at 95% humidity, it just slows it down.
Even the agar eventually dries out, even in a container, in a fridge.

----

@pacmanbreed, not really unusual, this is T-Gel, which is phenol based, no glucose (as such).

Some phenols may contain a single glucose molecule that everything is attached to.
However in general, when present the glucose is trace and not equated.

Lignicolous mycelium can produce energy and glycogen by cleaving the phenols (C-H-O, sometimes also N).
The mycelium can produce either or both laccase enzymes and lignin peroxidases enzymes.

Both types of enzymes require oxygen, or an oxidant, to produce energy and glycogen.

Induction of Extracellular Hydroxyl Radical Production by White-Rot Fungi

My images show us that the mycelium also has an 'internal' mechanism.

----

Here is a post I made after a basic analysis on Golden oyster, sun light (photolysis) and sulphur uptake.

I believe it's possible active mycelium produce it as an anti-oxidant, or as part of nutritional cycle.

no, sorry. I'm talking about substrate in a mono. grow conditions following bods unmodified method. i liked the details you had posted on mycelium. i should have clarified. not talking about agar. right. water loss still happens, but at higher humidity it's slower?

Good morning Shroomery.
Time to go get some stuff to make up some agar.

@O0ZE

Oh right sorry, I see my bad. Yes the lower the humidity the higher the water loss.
Water loss is effected by temperature, and how much the air can hold.

If a bucket contains 95% water, you can only add another 5%.

Evaporation is highest when the air is dry and hot.

----

Some mycelium colonize faster, or better, at 22°C but fruit at a lower temperature (e.g. 12°C).
It's likely the internal water replenishment for fruit bodies is slower than other types.

If the mycelium cannot cope with the water loss and conditions, it aborts.

Here is a test I did on a 50/50 paper pellet and peat based compost mix, (enriched).
I placed the cake into water to see the effect of oxygen and copious water.

The oyster rapidly produced giant clusters of fruits (needed more light).

When the fruit bodies grew to far beyond the short humidity depth (the container), it aborted.
I had to mist the growing fruit bodies to make up for the water loss (low humidity).

When the cake was removed from the water and left, I got 100% abort.

ah attention to detail. The ultimate tool for learning. i like your test! There are some functions of it involving material law that i'd like to learn more about. that's on the horizon, but I'm not sure about taking the trek to see it in full detail. i can see you've reached that horizon though! thanks for the communication call and confirmation!

So what's going on here? i birthed my jars 7 days ago. not sure if that the right word. the (3) tubs were getting light 24HR a day for 7 days straight. now they are on a 12 HR cycle. shouldn't i be seeing denser masses after 7 days at a temp that ranges 72 - 75F with humidity at 90%
