Awesome. Ive been thinking of using a 5 gallon bucket with holes drilled in and my nesco drying "element" stuck in a hole in the lid. But don't they all stick together drying like that? Neat idea tho!

If you mean those coffer models, where you put a small gas tube inside the portable burner, don't use those. They can explode when you cook on them for too long.

Yes. But according to the instructions absolutely not.

They look huge in all the pics I’ve seen. Heavy too. Everything I’ve seen here from people with 941s is done on outdoor propane burners. It’s got twice the volume of your 921 so it has to be pretty massive.

sandman420 said: 941 is considerably wider than a 921, 925 and 930. It holds 10 quart jars per layer vs the 7 jars per layer of the others.
Edit: Maybe it was 9 on bottom and 10 on top layer, it's been a minute since I ran jars in a 941.
Thanks for both replies. I'm sure it's definitely too big for my little old stove.

I definitely looked ahead of time for that since the tech specs will obviously be online. The only reason I was unsure is Amazon customer's saying the extra diameter is including the handles at the top. I saw videos comparing and it definitely looks bigger though, but wanted to be sure. Thanks for the reply, foraged!

I bought the nesco that goes up to 30 trays but two extra trays is $15 for fucks sake
Yeah they get all stuck together in big clumps. I find it makes it easier to weigh em bag em and store em that way anyway
Amazing what they'll charge ya for a couple hunks of plastic

Anyone here ever use 25mm .2micron whatmans for grain lids?
I tried piling the shrooms over the whole dehydrator a few times but it always leaves the center mushy and wet so i used the small glass vase in the center there to keep shrooms away from the center

My burners are slightly lower than the counter its built into so I don't think this would work for me. My 921 is pushing it already.
bodhi,
There's like 70 of every dehydrator available on Offer Up and Craigslist at all times. I've bought basically new dehydrators for $20 just for the 6 trays it came with, heh.

Looks like tonight or tomorrow will be my first scalping of the Puerto Rican shoebox (MS and not super uniform), first grow in new space and first spore to LC success.

I got a "brand new" AA921 off Craigslist last week for like $120. It was still in the box with manual, weight, and both trivets, but dude was a serious smoker apparently and the entire thing REEKED of cigarettes. I washed off the disgusting yellow smoke residue (felt like I was going to puke) as much as I could.
After trying multiple times to run it, I'm still not getting a solid seal. I've tried all the normal tricks so far and am hoping it just needs a couple more tries since it's common with new models.
But going to clean out the plug, pressure gauge, and vent pipe areas to make sure there's not nasty shit fucking up either. Annoying.

Okay, nothing is blocking anything and I thoroughly wiped out the pressure plug area and put it back in. I've Googled a bunch and searched manual and can't find anything about this. Anybody know if the weight vent pipe and/or pressure gauge need to be tightened to a certain number of threads for optimal performance?
This lid has the pressure gauge about 3 full threads before the bottom opening on the inside. The weight vent pipe is nearly all the way down. Unable to check my older 921 lid ATM.

Be careful, it is possible to overtighten and strip the threads, ruining the lid.
There's some good discussion in the turn your AA into a sterilizer thread "Make sure you get at least 3+ turns on the new valve. The threads get tighter the more your turn it. Do not over do it."

I'm not going to fuck with anything beyond the pressure plug unless someone I trust confirms the current status is an actual issue.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the whole lighting issue. Can monos/shoeboxes do OK with just getting natural window light? I know PF cakes are fine with only natural light. So are monos/ shoe boxes really much different, ie. Needing a 6500k light.

You never need anything more than window light, but you may get a bit better results depending on how much window light the tubs are getting.
What I've observed is the mushrooms always grow towards the light, so if its coming from the side then they are all leaning to the side. If there's not much light at all, they sometimes grow leaning in every which way rather than growing straight up like they do with a light directly above.
I get best results out of all options when I place tubs in front of large glass door which gets a lot of sunlight (actually they are placed slightly off to the side of the door)... always way better than using lighting
