I’ve seen plenty of reishi tubs that antlered, maybe halfway through they conk due to changing air currents higher in the tub or people may open them up halfway through.
Not sure.
I posted some questions and my plan on the edible general discussion thread if anywone wants to chime in and help me with some reishi tubs

Any tips on propping up big fruits on brf cakes? I'm on my second flush of some B+ cakes and I had a single fat fruit on one cake and before the veil even had a chance to break it toppled over and detached from the cake.

Reishi antlers if it starts to pin on a horizontal surface. Some of the species are more sessile and some have a stipe/pedicel but what surface they start from plays a big role.

Hi Shroomery,
I just harvested my first coir tub today! Big thanks to Bod for his unmodded tub tek! It is so easy for a beginner to follow.
I have a few concerns about this grow:
1) None of my mushies appear to have any veils. I grew these from rye berry spawn. They are supposed to be cubes. I got them from a sponsored LC vendor. They definitely bruise blue and I am making spore prints to ensure they are purple but the lack of veil concerns me. Has anyone seen this?
2) The mushrooms look completely bloated and top heavy, some are even falling down. Look around the tops where they veil should be and its just thick mushroom stem. Is this normal? I haven't seen this in pictures before.
3) Excessive side pinning. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to reduce side pinning next time? I am thinking I had too much FAE and the middle of the sub dried while the sides stayed humid. Thoughts?
Total harvest mass 650g. Big guy in the middle is 50.0g.

edit: spelling

Penis Envy, which is what it looks like you are growing, rarely has much of a veil & even more rarely an annulus. They are usually very potent.

To reduce side pins practice. and I push down the perimeter of the tub pretty good too.

Does mcy colonise/eat through coir faster with sterilised coir or bucket tek'd coco ?

Good question. Lol. I think bigger factors are proper field capacity and culture cleanliness/aggression

Cooked coir is easier for myc to digest than non (obviously). I'd imagine that sterilizing cooks the coir better than your bucket will. IIRC, Pasty definitely thinks sterilizing is better for myc digestion.
It also releases cellulose from the lignin breaking down. Here's a good thread about it. For me, it's not worth it because hot water works fine for me. There's tons of bad shit you'll find in most coir we use that'd contaminate after sterilizing unless kept in the original containers. As I like to leave coir out in big tubs or buckets, this wouldn't work for me.

I thought it had to do with airflow? That’s why you can increase air halfway through antlers and get a conk. Doesn’t Pasty have an old thread where he put a mono on its side and still got antlers?

I put my coir in big tubs and then bucket tek it. Anything from the air that lands on it can't be worse than what they seem off some factory floor.

Right. That's exactly what I do, although I leave lids on afterward if I'm storing for a while. I've sterilized coir like 3 times ever. I recently left a jar without the lid and noticed my first contam on coir, heh.

Makes sense, thanks for the reply's everyone, I've only ever bucket tek'd so I was curious to the benefits of PC'd coir.
I may try it for a tub or 2

My first flush grew on the sides because I waited too long to remove the tape and switch to poly. should I place the cake in a bigger tub so the remaining flushes can grow from all sides?

Anyone know, could doing g2g over and over into new generations somehow impact potency when you spawn a g2g jar that was made from doing g2g 3-5 times?
I know bod seems to say it hasn't impacted the grow but I was wondering if somehow it could weaken potency for some reason?
Or is this not likely?

Dont see why it would. The culture should still have the same genetic potential.
