Looks like bruising. Combine that with the side pinning and it would appear that your tray is dry. What are you fruiting it in? That last pic is blobs. What variety is it?

This is a tin foil cake pan. I put the top on it most of the way but leave a little room for it to breathe. I was watering it by pouring water in to the corner of the tray because I read that misting pins can damage them. I am using only pasteurized coir. No casing lair
If the blue is just bruising then what is all the yellow junk?
Thanks for the tip on "blobing" - I never saw this term but now I can research it.
They are both strains of P. cube

The yellow stuff is probably just metabolites. Nothing out of the ordinary.
There’s nothing wrong with misting pins. In fact pouring water into the corner of the substrate makes it more difficult for the water to get where it needs to be.

Have a bunch of sub towards the end. Was gunna put them outside.
Two what would you do questions.
A: stack 14 shoebox subs B: lay them flat side by side.
And cover with 1: yard dibree 2: peat straight out of the bag 3: ph adjusted peat/verm

I would put them side by side. What I do is just dig a little hole maybe an inch deeper then the substrate slap it in the hole and top it with Black Kow manure. So far I’ve got mushrooms off of every sub I’ve put outside.

Im not spending money when i have plenty of materials on hand. The reason i ask is because i have limited shaded surface area. Even less that i can dig in

I have a question, and it may be a dumb one, so bear with me. I was wondering if I could put q-tips in a pill bottle with small hole, and mp tape, run it through pc for 30 mins. My question is would that constitute proper sterilization? In my noobish way of thinking it seems like it should, and would work for initial multi-spore inoculation on agar.

Itll work as long as the bottle is pc safe. I suggest individually wrapping them in foil so they stay sterile from the bottle to the sab

Just do what works in your space then. I would put as many as I can side by side and whatever you cant just stack in one deeper hole.
And if you already have PH adjusted peat/verm you might as well use that but if not any of them should work including grass or yard debris.

I'm going to have to start burying some subs because dumping them into a huge pot with compost/grass clippings just dries out right away no matter if i keep watering it or not... I really need a privacy fence. Still a little about neighbors seeing me out in the yard and wondering what these white blocks of stuff are and why am i burying them

Everyone's stuck in their own world. Do you have a layer on top for a humidity buffer?

I've got a hefty layer of grass clippings on top. I think I mostly just half assed the whole thing too much and would probably work better if I just dumped it all out and setup correctly... but still, its so hot most days that burying would perform so much better.

Trypt. Yard debris worked for me in CO earlier this month. Dead grass clippings is what I put over it. Sprayed with the hose every morning.
Buried it shallow. Thin casing of dirt, then grass clippings.

Here in a few days i plan on burying a dozen or so shoeboxes out back in a few days. My concern is that by the time anything is tall enough to grow it'll be exposed to the elements and its dry as fuck around here. I can pile up a bunch of old compost to help protect it, but im worried about suffocating them and making them too hot

Temp were anywhere from 89-104°F, humidity maxed out at 30%. I grew them from spawn jars, so I think a spent sub or tray would grow more easily. I think it'll work

Before i went on vacation i put a sub out there with a handful of fruits to finish up when i saw mold. By the end of the day the caps were split and they were all bruised. How did you keep the caps humid enough to avoid splitting?
