I just throw em out. Don’t wanna stir up hidden mold or other nasties into the air inside Guess it depends on where you live, it seems sketchy but I live in a huge city where people throw worse shit in the trash

Are dishes hard to clean or something? I'd never toss my pasty plates vs just cleaning them

Yeah I guess I’m just paranoid about putting a dish of mycelium full of my finger prints in the trash

I reuse pasty plates but I’m pretty sure you can’t reuse disposable Petri dishes.

I’m sure you could but more trouble then it’s worth. You’d have to clean out the old agar then pc the plates to clean them before using them again.

Regular dishes would melt. They do make dishes that can be reused a few times, trading off for less visibility

ah, I didn't realize you don't PC them
I don't think I'd switch from pasty plates then.. have to keep buying new dishes for all your agar? No thanks

Yeah I like using both. Pasty plates are hard sometimes to see everything you want to. The visibility isn’t as good but I do still like to use them. Especially when I don’t feel like taking extra time to set up the SAB to pour plates after I wait around ti PC them. Pasty plates I can just make and let cool and use the next day. Both have their pros and cons.

Yeah I'm always trying to fly low on the radar and chose pyrex petris when starting this hobby, it's alot of work though to clean all the dishes. Thats what I'll be spending my night doing, I toss all of the agar pucks in a hole outside aswell

Why they so hard to clean? Agar comes off pasty plates clean af, barely have to wash them even
I always toss the agar outside in the compost or down the drain while washing

Pasty plates are easy because you can just tiger drop it into the trash. You can’t squeeze the bottom of a glass or plastic petri. But I’m sure it scrapes right out idk I never tried.

I can't squeeze mine either.. I use a harder plastic dish that isn't squeezable. Using anything to wipe the agar, including finger, it all comes off instantly whether dried out or not
