I could probably just shake them off it’s like the mycelium is underneath it and those few grains aren’t going to get covered

Anybody know a good plug in timer for a dehydrator? I'm having a hard time finding one that I can just quickly go up to and tell to shut off in 24 hours. That function seems to be limited to 12 hours on all the models I've seen.

Get a digital programmable one. You can set for the day and time you need it to work. https://amazon.ca/Intermatic-DT620-Heavy-Indoor-Digital/dp/B004TGO6RY?th=1&psc=1&source=googleshopping&locale=en-CA&tag=googcana-20&ref=pd_sl_8z2ub7q15j_e

I'm not sure I'd use a timer for this purpose
You want to pack the dried shrooms asap. If you let them sit when the timer shuts off, you're basically letting them sit out in open air

You can get away with that in an arid environment. Shrooms stay cracker dry unsealed for me for a month or 2

It's not always going to be the same time. It's gonna be whenever I harvest. What I want is something that's essentially this but 24hr.

If it's a digital one that's easy enough to do the same thing that works but most look like you've got to make a whole program for on off times for repeating on a daily basis, which I would have to do every time I loaded a batch.

I'm not talking about loading a batch and then going on vacation. They're going to be sitting in open air until I can unload them either way, so once they're dehydrated there's no reason for the dehydrator to keep running if I'm still at work or something. Plus I don't have to pay attention to the clock then. If the dehydrator is on they're not done, if it's off, they are.

Yes, but the problem would be that oxidization will deteriorate potency as far as I have read. Once cracker dry you would want to store them properly so they don't oxidize.

In the states, any growshop or nursery will have analog 24 hr timers. Otherwise, Amazon.

Hardly. Unless you live in a very humid climate there’s no reason to worry about sealing them up air tight. If they’re dry, the goods are locked in.

These are programmable ones tho, right? Can you set them to just run for 24 hours straight and then shut off?

I wasn't worried about potency loss so much as a bit of moisture creeping back into the dried fruits from sitting out in the open for several hours... isn't that the whole reason for making sure your dried fruits are stored properly

Ah...I see what you’re saying. No, these are cyclers. The digital type as mentioned would be what you want then. But they are also available at any grow shop/nursery.

Do they have switches on each hour for it to turn off? If so could you leave them all on then after an hour turn the one you started on off? That way ot turns off at 24 hours instead of 23?
Can you overdry mushrooms?

23 hours would be fine. Is that how the switches work? Like if I had all the switches up except for the 23rd hour, would it run for 23 hours and then stay off until it looped back around to 23 again? Because I'll definitely have it emptied out by then, and I can just unplug and reset the timer for next time

TBH, I would just be more attentive. 24 hrs seems excessive unless you’re drying mountains of shrooms.
