They don't sleep, i dont see how a dark cycle would benefit them

Interesting i thought you were supposed to do a 12 on 12 off cycle.
naw, he is wrong. mushrooms need a circadian rhythm. 12 on 12 off.

Mycelium has been shown to have circadian rhythms just like mammals, and this is the reason that 12/12 light cycles work best. RR

The other part is that pins for second, third, and future flushes often form during the time of first flush. If you go cheapie on the light after the first flush is set, you hinder primordia development for future flushes. Mushroom mycelium has circadian rhythms just like humans. Give them a day/night cycle and they'll be much happier over the course of several flushes. LIGHTING RR

I even sanded the lid a bit to try to make sure it would stick well.
Anybody have any tips on that ^?

Let them dry and cure for at least 24hrs before using them and they should be good Legend21

Those look great. Mine look like shit but get the job done. I like the regular clear silicone vs the high temp red. More viscous

Cool thanks guys! I was thinking of using metal lids with whole SFDs but I really like the plastic especially for G2G. I’ll see if it works out well

I'm going to do a few tubs outside the closet with window light and see if I get anything different.

Back to Legend Even if you make some using metal lids I would still cut your disks and fit to the hole the same way you did these to prevent any moisture that can sometimes accumulate in the space between the SFD and your lid from the hole during PC'ing. Can't remember who it was that posted it, but some real nasties formed there and caused issues. I only used a 5 micron filter that I found at a vacuum repair show as I wasn't able to get SFD's here and they worked like a charm!

best way to avoid problems with lids is to not mod the lid but if you do, use a basic filter nah what im sayin?

It was either this or use tyvek or micropore tape. I know they say to use 0.3 micron SFD but the 5 micron filter was all I was able to find at the time and gave it a go. They work fabulously so am happy with them, but hear what you're saying mushboy!

Yeah that was me that had the mold growing on the SFD that was under the plastic lid that’s why I went this route. As long as it holds well and is sealed around the edges I suppose I might be okay

What do you do for your lids? I see how pasty had some I nodded lids that he just twists a little loose for GE. SFD under the lid didn’t work very well for me so I figured this would be a basic filter just SFD and silicone.

SFD's siliconed to the top of plastic lids are kind of a standard. Basic filtration. I don't understand the whole polyfill or no filter thing...We have better options and for pennies.

Yeah I made one yesterday and it seemed to peel off easy that’s why this all came up. I didn’t know if that’s something that silicone does. I tore the filter off because it didn’t seem secure and the silicone just comes right off also
