Just wanted to post some pics of these shoeboxes (atl#7) i wasn't planning on fruiting them, I was just going to make stones, but it seems fairly aggressive and I might get some fruits.

Yeah I've never seen mexicanae mycelium do this. Is that cased?
The middle picture. Is that a stone forming on the wall on the right? Something ain't right here. Myco, where you at?

Legend, don't be intimidated. Growing stones is very very easy. I honestly think they're easier to grow than cubes.
All of my best grows have been Mexicanae's. You can do it.

Yeah, I'd say
I wondered if it had been cased as well...definitely looks funky and could be the result of bacterial spawn. And yeah, it does look like it has stones creeping up the side.

That looks no bueno to me meng. Hella bacterial is my guess
Legend21- Just ask whatever questions you may have in here and you'll get your answers. You could check out stonesun's thread for info as well but then I'd direct any questions to this thread

Cool I’ll read his stuff as well as stonesuns. I’ve just seen it looks different in jars like all splotchy and weird looking but I’m going to dive in and order some spores tomorrow. I think I’ll start with atl#7. I assume normal contams still show up the same right? Or is there different contams with stones?
Is it only rye and rye grass seed as spawn?

I'm switching from oats to rye for my Mexicana; the hulls make the stones more difficult to clean IMO.

On a side note I always see people saying that they dehydrate their cubes for 12-24 hours but I’m finding that mine only go about six before cracker dry. Does that mean my heat could be too high? I mean they’re dry to the point where if I touch them a little to hard they just crack in half.

They always appear cracker dry before they are. But you'll learn your lesson if you're under drying.
6 hours will work for smaller shrooms
