Kettles are ridiculous kitchen gadgets. Whats wrong with any old pot you already have to boil water. Only brits need a whistle because I guess it's possible to get distracted enough to forget you wanted tea in the first place
Or the microwave. Only good for making boiling water and melting agar. Boil a cup of water in the microwave real quick..

Looks like Lencacillium that is struggling to survive in high FAE and low temps.
yeah I would harvest asap and toss that tub

Yep, that was the plan as of this morning. It became much more pronounced overnight. It looked promising when the pinset came in, not sure if the contamination was in the spawn or made it in during fruiting. Have several other tubs fruiting, none with any similar symptoms. Hoping it’s contained to this tub and not the culture, or I have another great looking mono to toss

because it is so aggressive and easily spread, lecanicillium can also be introduced by gnats and flies. take out your trash, clean your sink, and let your water run to flush out your j-bend

Yes, I've gone as far as hydrating substrate with grain boil water. Both straight and diluted.
I can dig up the pics here and get them uploaded and what not. It's gonna take a min to find the pics of the flushes of the GBW tubs. They're mixed in with pics of none GBW tubs. I just gotta look at the time frames and some had some distinct features I remember so I do have examples to show. I know Psilo was getting info as I was doing it.
I have more trials I want to run with it. I just want to get more of the variables locked down a lil tighter.
Im not looking for pics, just info, did you treat it any different than just a bucket ten?
I used the freshly boiled and drained grain water to hydrate my buckets of coir and verm. I put a piece of screen over the top of the bucket to keep pieces of grain out. So yes, aside from the water having grain nutes in it I did everything the same and those fist tubs (6) went just as long as the rest and actually had really nice flushes but I think the evenness of the flush was more so with how I mixed and spread the spawn and sub more than anything.
Next round I did 8 tubs.4 full strength and 4 diluted. The GBW this time seemed darker than the first and the 4 straight ones smelled off from the gate and failed. The diluted ones ran the course. I was getting green by the end of the second flush on both GBW and non-GBW hydrated tubs. So like I said furthur testing needs to be done with less variables to see if it really helps yield at all, contams faster, just saves time and energy boiling water or is too unpredictable.
But, that's where I stand on GBW hydrated subs ATM.
So do you need to worry about a slight cross-contamination between your GBW and your sub prep?
My answer: Don't worry too much about it. Things will probably be fine.

I'm getting really bad back pain doing SAB work. I dont get it while sitting anywhere else or when lifting weights or whatever, so i'm guessing my posture is bad.
Gonna maybe try making a surface high enough to stand and do SAB work to see if that helps. Anyone else have this problem?
Maybe I should start shopping for a flowhood

I think its the maintaining of SAB work position that starts to wear on your back, if you have a lot of work to do.
I find that making the SAB at a height so that you can look directly into the SAB from the side without having to lower your head to lessen these problems. This height also allows you to easily reach your arms in at level height

I dropped my chair to its lowest level, my arms are shoulder height in relation to the arm holes. Seems a lot better but my back is gonna be buggered for the rest of the night

Gamer hunch never hurt like this, but thats how I was. Kinda. SAB was a little higher.

I had tried two or three different table heights, new chair or table may help, its made my SAB sessions more comfortable. I can sit with my legs relaxed, feet on the ground, keeping my back straghit. Though my SAB is tall and I look threw the side not the top, now two or three hours still hurts a bit but not crippling like befor

My posture is shitty like pretty much everyone's is these days, so I started doing some posture exercises which I've been slacking on... but there are a few variations on sets of simple exercises you do daily to fix the common posture problems
Here's one video.. different options can easily be found on youtube. Lookup Anterior Pelvic Tilt

Google "kneeling chair". My mom has used one for years in her office and I bet it would be kick ass for long SAB/flow hood sessions. I've been thinking about getting one for awhile now.

Last pics before harvest and toss a few hours ago. Definitely infected. Took lots of precautions but I’m sure the damage is done. Expecting the worse. Don’t want to have to start from scratch but will if I have to

its a parasitic fungus. it can have different effects depending on the stage of growth which infection occurs. on the fruits, it will just consume it. if you let that tub sit there indefinitely, all those fruits would rot pretty quickly as the infection spreads thru air easily.
its hard to say what effects it has to subs. i dont know if anyone has ID'ed it on a jar of grains, it seems to just show up on fruits. but generally speaking, if your sub gets infected, its either not going to produce, or its going to produce really fucked up fruits, and very few of them at that.
