i wonder if people have contamination issues from multitasking grain prep and bucket tek.
say you use a pot to boil grains. you dump it out and shit but if you dont clean it you could be mixing small amounts of grain water into your bucket tek water. cause you just refill the pot and boil more water for coco.
would that cause issues?

I was just wondering about this when I was scrubbing my grain pot the other day. There are some bits that get stuck to the pot so I had to really scrub, and it was making me wonder

i use a really old and shitty pot to boil grains and my basic cooking stock pot to boil water for coco. but i was thinking about soaking grains in buckets that you bucket tek with as well and wondering if that would also be an issue.
i am also really high.

Yet again, I'm always super surprised that Americans dont have kettles. None of my coir kit comes in contact with my grain prep kit, except maybe the table.

Thats a good idea as I love multitasking, following on that good question by mushboy. A good and one way to even reduce the workload if contam are less of an issue which i feel it is, as long youve dump the grain boil regardless of the carbon build.
May try this nexttoime around.

Well, looks like filthy got ahold of me.
Yes, I've gone as far as hydrating substrate with grain boil water. Both straight and diluted.
I can dig up the pics here and get them uploaded and what not. It's gonna take a min to find the pics of the flushes of the GBW tubs. They're mixed in with pics of none GBW tubs. I just gotta look at the time frames and some had some distinct features I remember so I do have examples to show. I know Psilo was getting info as I was doing it.
I have more trials I want to run with it. I just want to get more of the variables locked down a lil tighter.

I bought a huge block of coir from the Homebrew store near me. Was wondering the best way to go about breaking it up. Hammer and chisel? Lol.
Also just began primary fermentation of my Russian Imperial Stout. Anyone know if you can "dry-hop" shrooms in a fermenting vessel and achieve a trippy brew?

Apparently people just expose a piece of the brick to humid air for a few days and then pull it off when its loose.
I tried a fucking saw once to try break up bricks to more bite size chunks . I think the gash I made wasnt even 1cm

Just use a flat tip screwdriver and stick it in with the grain. Makes easy work of any size coir brick in seconds

For breaking up coir I use a good butter knife and break it off like bod. I find a crack and slip the knife in it and pry off pieces. I do it in a shallow baking pan to reduce mess and then break the pieces off into smaller pieces by hand.
