Sorry phone was dying. I've left coir in a jar for months without anything.
Also add that this happened twice. The first time I threw it out. The second time I used it and those are currently fruiting with no obvious signs of contamination.
Once I used newer coir. I stopped getting it.
Edit: myco
Didn't notice that before but even 2 days I doubt it would have formed and spread that much from it.
It doesn't have a color either doesn't look like trich idk

Just get any old cheap burner I got mine for 25 a pop. Tanks were 43 full and the hose was like 15 bucks. It's nice doing it outside.
Doesn't heat the house and if I need to make multiple batches of grain I just cook em on the stove inside while the pcs r running.

A space heater with the added bonus of making your house smell like dead ass.

My dehydrator raises the temp of my room about a degree, comparable to my e-nail, if I'm running it at full temp. I can only smell it for like the first hour or so.

I run my dehydrator in my basement. Never gets above 70 down there even with 3 dehydrator running 24/7.
Also keeps that foot stank isolated.

My dehydrator heats a bedroom to the point of being nice and toasty in the winter, if door is kept closed... So I'd say its putting off more heat than an e-nail
I also try not to run my AC constantly because its old and AC costs a lot of money, so things like this make a difference when its a struggle to keep the house temp at or below 80 in the hot ass summer

I had an idea that I´m just throwing out there, it´s not a theory so don´t take it too seriously.
But as I noticed that my wheat jars came out of the PC with large chunks stuck together, not a pretty sight but I could break up some of it but still looks far from good prep. Anyway, so this got me thinking that by the time the whole jar is colonized and to be spawned it´s reasonable to assume there will still be uncolonized grains at the center of these clumps. When this gets spawned it get broken up and mixed with the colonized grains and the bulk substrate and the whole substrate colonizes in a week.
Now my idea is:
What would happen if I spawned freshly sterilized grain 50/50 together with fully colonized spawn and then mix into bulk substrate?
To make that clear, 50% spawn, 50% sterilized grain and bulk substrate mixed together. I´m assuming it would colonize normally, might take longer time but the whole tub won´t turn to shit within days. Or has anyone tried this before and concluded that it will turn to shit?

I'd wager the uncolonized grain would contaminate, same as exposing regular uncolonized grain to unclean air, especially if the bulk sub's not sterilized.

I would say it would mold. That's why we colonize grain in sterile conditions.
If you put plain sterilized grain in a coir tub that would invite all kinds of nasties to start colonizing the grain.
You might just have to make some new jars.

I hear what you're saying mateah. The speed. However, I agree that it would probably contaminate, overly nutritional subs can be a vector in itself. Maybe at the very least it'll be bacterial from the freshly sterilized grain sitting in moist conditions for about a week. Assuming mold doesn't set in in that time, and the mycelium beats it.
I've never tried.
Maybe a bad example would be Muda bottles. We still sterilize substrate and grain in a container even if we pour LI.

While we are on a similar vein of conversation, I have great dificulty breaking up spawn of my one brand of WBS, it has chipped corn in it, which makes it stick together like a cake.
Now I'm going to not by that brand again, however for interests sake, would it make it easier to break up if I dropped a marble into the centre of the grain after filling up the jars with dried grain, would that help break it up in the shake?
