I was gonna toss some plates, but was advised to wait for pins and take a clone.
Only thing I can come up with is those that pin on agar have a strong will to survive.
The genetic in that pin usually tell you that its fast growing, it definitely fruits and its clean. Doesnt always work that way but those traits are in those strains

I'm saying they're too wet, or been sitting too wet for too long.

When storing plates in the fridge, should I use one of those soft lunch boxes to insulate them and prevent temp fluctuations?
What kind of lunch box or other containers do you guys use?
If they are stacked up a few high will they be ok without insulation?
How long will a slightly thick poured plate last in the fridge before drying out?

Can liquid inoculate be stored in the fridge long term? Maybe I can't keep plates forever but what about LI?
Also, how far, or not far, can I stretch one whole pasty plate full of myc. 100ml/10jars?
Also, can you grow "grocery store" mushrooms easily inside? Portabella, small white buttons, etc.

From what I've noticed the more you stretch out a plate between jars the slower the jars will colonize, but technically you can stretch a plate (no pour or pour) as much as you want. I use at least half a 60 mm plate per jar but aim for 1 whole plate. I still haven't tried an li but I think I may have to for my next batch since I only have 3 plates of two different cultures and need to knock up 10 jars soon.
I can't answer the other questions.

Most mushrooms from the store come from cultures already pushing the limit of g2g numbers

I was in a hurry a couple weeks ago and nocd up 12 jars from 2 pastyplates. 36 wedges a plate. 6 wedges a jar. Spawning tomorrow. I technically could have stretched one plate to 36 jars this way, but that would have been silly.

Anyone ever use the square ziplocks for pasty plates instead of glad rounds?
Same size volume. 4oz. Just square instead of circle... they had bonus packs with ten in them on sale at Walmart for 2 bucks even so I got a pack.

yes. The indented bottom will mean you'll need to pour a bit more agar into them, but they work okay.

Yeah all I use are the square rubbermaid brand ones. Great for cutting your agar into a grid

So I'm trying to plan a "big" run.
This kind of takes a good bit out of me mentally to make happen. It's a decent bit of work when my PC only holds 3 quart jars. I own somewhere from 21-25 quart jars. May go buy another pack. I have 20lbs of WBS, and three "strains" on agar.
So... I'm thinking 7-8qts of spawn per tub, x3 different strains. Z, GT, and KSSS.....
Let's see that's.... 7 or 8 pressure cooker cycles. x say what 100 minutes each... 8 cycles x100 minutes each wouldnbe 800 minutes, which is..... 13.5 hours.
Not counting any time for the PC to heat up or cool down. So more realistically....much longer. A whole day 24 hours of pure PCing to make this happen......
Any ideas or suggestions besides buy a larger PC, or stimulants to keep me awake. Can't afford either at the moment.

I absolutely hate the mini square ziploc containers, glad you asked as I considered making a post to warn people. At least in my experience, they do not do their jobs well after a couple PC cycles. The lids don't pop on and seal the way that the circle ones do, and after a couple uses the lid was just sitting on top of the container, impossible to seal. I chucked all of my squares. Still using the same circles though! I actually prefer the twist lock ones though, definitely my favorite. Easy to see and work in, and plenty of room for mycelium expansion

Really your only option to save time is the one you don't want to hear, buy a 941, you could run 18 jars in it or 6 5-6# spawn bags per run, the bags are the way to go for large runs, in fact in the XL bags you could fit 7-8# of grain per bag which is a tubs worth and fit 4 of those per run in a 941.
