Chances are the playgrounds/parks are already loaded with a giant mycelial mat. liloldme is just adding to what's already there. The maintenance trucks will be dropping casing layers of chips and soil soon. We can be mad at them.

Relax guys I have a conscious. Swings and slides were removed years ago and they are overran by sticker bushes. haven't seen kids there since I was a 15. Either way it will be nice competition for the Galerina autumnalis and Amanita crenulata they could eat instead.

There's a picture in Stamets' "Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World" where they show a lady making spore prints on her field hat. Once it is printed they go out walking and the wind blows the spores around. Don't know if it works, but it couldn't hurt.

When I'm out camping I'll lay caps on my boots and pack and other gear. Then by morning or next picking I'll have spore laden gear. There's trillions of spores in shoelaces, it's how cyans end up outside of bus stops. Game trails, those rabbits and deer brush by them and run them all over the place. Peoples dogs too, as they don't eat them. I take large sheets of foil and print hundreds at a time, then load those into water bottles and walk around parks slowly letting spore solution out. Other times if the weather is bad I'll rub old matures on my rain gear and slicker with mud boots. Every little bit helps. Or if a chip dislodged while snipping then take them and toss them where other mushrooms grow. =) Some guy here who does a lot of city picking always prints on his shoes the night before he goes out.

I've just finally got my syringes from the us APE and uncut pe can't get them at all in UK just basic cubes took an age and I had to pay £13.61 customs tax on top of the postage I paid to get them here Just poured some plates cooling in the SAB as we speak What's the best course of action with the syringes drop on agar or drop on swab and swab agar does it matter?

I actually like to press the tip of the needle slightly in the agar so the spores have maximum contact with the nutrients. And they also won't roll around.

That's what was making lean toward swab I always seem to get a little annoying puddle swishing around but I'll give that a go last time I made a couple grooves with needle but didn't help much

I just broke up 10 half pint cakes, and am gonna spawn to bulk in a 27qt monotub. Planning to make the substrate closer to 4 inches thick. This will be my last go with BRF as I have grains going now, and I want to see a canopy. So I got a tall more square ish tub.
How much coir and Verm should I use for 10 half pints? I have some manure that's been half opened outside I could add too, but I really don't feel it adds a whole lot...
Also, can I mix the Coir and Verm dry and then get to field capacity and load into quart jars and PC to sterilize? If so, how long
Thanks!

I have a question.
I swear in the past, when I was looking up BRF to bulk, and general bulk, the ratios were 1:3, 4 at the most.
Now that I'm more specifically looking for WBS stuff, I'm seeing often 1:6-8
That seems abit much substrate. But I could be wrong.
Can someone chime in please? Thanks.

That's a really low spawn ratio. Did these suggestions of such abysmal spawn ratios come from anytime in the last 5 years perchance?

Honestly, I can't recall. But I promise I've had locked in my head 1:4 at the absolute highest as any higher takes a while to colonize and easier for contams.
Could be bad information, I'm very eager to learn. Getting ready to post pics, but I believe I did 1:3, and obviously my substrate is super thin for a 27qt tub. Maybe 2 inches thick. Kinda rambling here instead of going back and deleting, but the exact amount I did was 1:2, so 10 half pints which I figured was a little over 2 quarts, so I did about 4 quarts of mostly Coir and some Verm. All I had.
It was just BRF to bulk so not a huge loss. The cake chunks should do fine ass is, and I figure even though I didn't add a lot of coir, the cake part of the tub should atleast still do decent.
I have grains going now that I'm excited for.
So, 1:6, 1:7, 1:8, every time in the future from now on?

What? No, those are the low spawn ratios... I wouldn't go lower than 1:4. I usually do more like 1:2 or 1:3. Sometimes 1:1.
