Eco earth 80% of the time. Grow-it the other.
Ive rarely seen mold growing on uninoculated coir as well. Big deal, its always been some sort of cobweb like mold

You mean hypothesis. But you wouldn't sterilize poo or straw without treating it as such. Shitty coir could do you in its happened before I ever even knew what bulk sub was. Im not saying all coir needs to be pasteurized, but if the only source you have seems to give you problems, why not take the extra step.
Bod says there's no beneficial microbes but they leave the shit just laying around on the ground, people walking all over it and shit. Animal poop im sure. I just think its the best help to properly pasteurize

How can you say that without ever sterilizing coir? Speaking defintively on a subject implies knowledge or at the very least experience with said subject. MB already mentioned early in this thread that sterilized CVG was working better for him than his current prep so i dunno why you continue to stick with falsehoods about coir tamming from sterilization more than other prep methods. If anything in *my experience* ive had problems with bucket tek coir but even then i cant definitively say it was not my spawn, my environment, or cross contamination from the using the same stirring spoon from previous contammed jars.

I've gone through about 15 bricks of eco earth and haven't really had any issues with my bulk sub. Fingers crossed, knock on wood, praise baby jebus for clean grows.lol

I've never seen my eco earth shit the bed all by itself, and I've used coir that was in side a cooler for at least a month and a half.

How can I say that if you're having trouble with coir try to pasteurize??? Because it's logical.

you still miss the point. You keep stating pasteurizing coir is superior to sterilizing coir or bucket tek coir, and what proof do you have? NONE. If you dont have proof just admit it. This hobby cant move forward with people making claims about methods you havent tried. Itβs a big claim saying one method of coir prep is BETTER than another. Now if youd have left it at you personally prefer pasteurization thats different.

I never claimed that one way is better than another. In fact i dont even heat treat my coir most of the time. I simply claimed that pasteurizing makes more sense to avoid mold than sterilization in this case.

Because sterilization kills everything pasteurization only kills molds and certain bacteria. Sometimes there are seeds in coir. Say I took 2 grain jars. One sterilized one pasteurized. The sterilized one will mold first guaranteed

Alright that's already been said plenty of times. Clearly saying it again doesn't end the debate

Personally I decided its a non-issue. I've still been using eco earth after the recent talk about it not being good, and I've been leaving it in the bucket over 1-2 weeks and using as needed.
But it would be nice if the issue could be addressed in some way other than just repeating the same posts endlessly
