what evidence do you have that pasteurized coir is more contam resistant than sterilized or bucket tek? I have seen people advocate anything and everything with coir. There seems to be a LACK of consensus, so I'm curious why you would take a definitive stance?

You can use straight coir. You can sterilize it. You can bucket tek it.
What it comes down to is spawn. If your coir is molding before the first flush, or even during the first flush, I can almost guarantee it's your spawn. On the rare occasion there's some BS in your brick.
Mycelium seems to colonize "cooked" coir a bit easier than uncooked, and that's what it's really all about.
Throw that brick in a cooler with boiling water and walk away.

You can put arm holes in the lid instead, but then you lose depth.

The container store, mushboy.
Get in, grab the biggest SAB container you see, and get out before you start looking at other containers you wanna inoculate.

Hey mush you could use pint masters instead of quarts. Double up for the same volume. I got a 70.6 quart sab from walmart that's good for G2G. The only thing i don't like about it, is the once you remove the lid the hinge elevates the back end a bit. I cover it with a

I actually wish I made pint masters for g2g. Much better, g2g less jars in the box per master, just with more pints. Spread more efficiently.. I dig it.
.. next time. Pints.

Just the fact that bucket tek doesn't maintain (or even get to?) Pasteurization temp for long enough to be significant help and anything above pasteurization kills those beneficial microbes that pasteurization relies on already

It goes over pasteurization temperature And there's no beneficial microbes in coir anyway

While we're talking about Bucket tek and Coir:
I havent done a batch of coir for about 2-3 months(sorta hiatus)
I checked my bucket (just 2 buckets stacked into eachother with a water layer for heat retention. Coolers are expensive here) and it still hadnt been cleaned out for all that time, and there was a thick layer of coir caking the bottom and most of the sides.
It was as fresh as a daisy. not one bit of cobweb, trich, no funny smell.
its been sitting outside in the shade all this time. I'm quite confident in the bucket tek for prep, but I still sterilise for 30mins in the PC to get it properly "cooked".
On a similar note, I got seedlings germinating in coir (not from the bucket, they were little promotional disks and seeds) and they were prepped with cold water. most of them contammed with cobbwebby mold.
I'm pretty convinced that bucket tek works great for our purposes.

Never seen it growing on just coir before. It doesn't start growing on bucket tek coir left in the bucket for weeks, it doesn't start growing in reptile terrariums. Only on coir with mycelium and grain in it or coir with a plant potted in it have i seen green molds spring up.

I trust with my Eyes Bodh. I still dont G2G because of my own superstitions. Its one of my biggest problems, I have to run experiments and control batches of any technique before I trust it.

Pasteywhite has a thread on sterilized coir. I have blocks of coir that has jungle turds and some straw in it and also have read the blocks tend to be allot more dirty than the reptile ones, so to be safe I sterilize it.
Think I might have sterilized my sub https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=2&Number=19178683&fpart=1&PHPSESSID=
Haven't really seen anything written negative about out it and seeing no issues. By the time you use the energy cost though might be just as economical to get the lizard blocks

I get the your own eyes thing but with so much trial and success behind it, its kind of like saying I don't believe airplanes fly until i get on one myself

I've been keeping my cvg hot with a water bath and left in it for about an hour. I've had no issues but have been thinking of trying a bucket tek just to make things simpler.

What brand of coir do you use? Ive seen mold grow on uninoculated eco earth before
