The 2nd flush I just harvested had overgrown and looked a bit like that. Just the mycelium growing out and reconnecting. Should be fine I'd say but I wouldn't give them to anyone else.

So you eat them. Then naturally feel a bit funny. Then spend 6 hours worried about what you just ate.

No thanks

Even if it is just mycelium

No thanks

Not trying to be debby downs here but worrying about what you ate during the trip is probably as bad as eating nasty ones in the first place lol.

No one likes the am I dying time loop. Happens to us all at some point but I try to avoid.

it very well may be myc... could also be some similar looking mold.. only way to know for sure is to examine it, we can't really tell you from a photo

Either way, they seem kinda gnarly

How long were they sitting in that box? Because they are going to start degrading/rotting as well just sitting at room temp

*edit: typed response without realizing there was another page of posts already, nm

I don't like the looks of that and neither what you said about suddenly going from rhizo to tomentose.
I think you've got meshed-in mold in there. The star shape of the culture can be an indication.

Keep that plate after you transfer from it and when it's nearly 100% colonized open the lid and take a good pic to say for sure.

And you thought i was paranoid about mold... Cultures change morphology all the time. The big empty spots are a concern, but id like to see more color and texture before writing it off as mold

It's true, you're totally paranoid about shit on your cultures and most times you're way off
so I've no reason to trust your super expert opinion this time either.

They chance morphology for lots of reasons, meshed-in mold is one of them and those triangles are almost a dead giveaway.

But that's another story, that right there in the pic really looks like meshed-in mold and a future better pic will tell if it is (although you won't know for shit). I guess I'm not just talking from theory/reading...

Ok, so from that plate it's impossible to transfer right? Some additional info:

All my plates where doing pretty good and I keep them in a wardrobe that I open 1-2 times daily. I left from my flat Friday and arrived at Sunday and that happened, can be the lack of fresh air???? Some plates are still pretty good (srsly not like my last photo HAHHAA)

Top 2 jars are good to go. You might wait a day on the bottom one to fill in those spots.
