Hi everyone, it's my first post so please bear with me.

I've got two monotubs full of peat and coir which I inoculated with grain spawn 4 days ago. I layered the grain and didn't mix through (which was probably a mistake).

I've had the 6 holes coved with non-breathable tape since then, and the humidity seems like 100%. The mycelium seems to be growing through the bulk, and emerging on the top, but I want to know whether I should be uncovering the holes and stuffing them with polyfil right about now? Will the mycelium be able to colonise the whole thing if I leave the holes covered?

Any help is really appreciated. Thanks
Here are some pictures. Sorry they're dark -  I'm not using a grow lamp.

Well, i have a little experience and my advise would be too let that fully colonize before placing polyfil. Ive done it both ways, immediately putting to fruiting conditions or waiting till fully covered. Ive always had better results by letting it fully colonize. They are less susceptible to contamination and they seem to give a stronger, more even pinset. The tub you have here, i would let that colonize another week and a half or more.

I have some jars I forgot about that are contaminated, what do you guys do with contaminated jars?  Toss them?  Kind of paranoid about throwing anything related to cultivation in the trash though.

Personally, it depends on on the type of contam and if I had more jars going. If it was bacterial and I didn't have that many other jars, I'd prob still try spawning it to its own shoebox. If you have other jars going or if it's contammed with mold I'd prob just toss it. If your worried about throwing the whole jar out you could prob sterilize it and then just open it up and dump the grains out. I don't think anyone would think anything of some grains in your trash.

I’ve never had to spawn a bacterial jar personally, I’ve only seen people on here do it. So I'm not too sure in if the tub would be really smelly or not. I've seen some people  have  some fairly successful grows despite the spawn being bacterial tho.

Couldn't the spores be harmful to you tho, and then spread all over the place when you open the jar?

no more harmful than whatever crud is lurking in your sink/toilet, or weird shit you step in outside and tracked inside.
you should dump bad jars the second you see it too. a few grains with mold isnt going to kill anyone.

Guys I left my fresh mushrooms in a cardboard box in my room waiting for today to get my dehydrator and this happened. Are these still safe to dry? I think it's just mycelium growing on the mushroom.

That's gross. Maybe try and take a tissue sample from inside on of the stems and clone it. I wouldn't eat those. Good luck.

Why would you leave them sitting wet in a cardboard box? That is one of the worst things you could do...  If you need to save your shrooms, put them in a container inside the fridge, for as little time as possible

You're going to have to make a decision. If you're confident it's mycelium I suppose it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and throw them in your new dehydrator.
