Why can't you just put regular tape on the inside of the holes with micropore?

Me? Because I tape the holes with duct tape from the get-go, I do unmodified, problems is that all my tubs have holes, so if I wanna float the sub I just add more tape so it doesn't leak. But that idea you said looks pretty decent, that way you don't have to take off the MP tape.

I'd imagine it would be pretty leaky. I was hoping to be able to slide the tub out of the bathroom after it was filled, so I could get comfortable and have more room to work. It's a big tub, and I figured it would be a job and a half to harvest, but maybe with a decent knife and not stressing about stubs I could knock it out fairly quick. I suppose I could put tape on the insides, fill the tub, harvest, and drain it all in the bathtub without making a giant mess. Being able to leave the micropore on would be a big bonus too. Just trying to make things easy for myself.

Duct taping the holes may work, I always keep a roll in the car if a radiator hose ever blows but just putting a strip over the hole might not hold back the water pressure. Proceed with caution and do a test run. Possibly a small pvc pipe with a screw on cap modded to a tub if your crafty.

If it's a big tub forget about using duct tape, there's gonna be a lot of water pressure on the tape and it's gonna leak unless you use a shit ton of layers or something.
My tubs are 45 liters and I have to put 4 layers of tape, otherwise it'll leak, and with all those layers they still bulge like they wanna explode.
You could do unmodified instead, I don't put artificial lights on the tubs or anything and still works like a charm.

I'm sure the tape would hold up to pressure better from the inside.

I still don't get why it wouldn't be easiest to put the tub in the bath tub, close the stopper, and fill the bathtub up, to float the sub

Coz that sounds too wasteful? Also, it takes time to fill up a bath tub, but if you don't mind all that, yeah why not.

I've got some time left before I could spawn to bulk so I've got time to tinker with it. Just kinda spitballing ideas right now. You guys have given me quite a few leads here. I'll try some tests this weekend.

Whatever you do in the end, dont put the tub in the bath tub, it's gonna be impossible not to drench the surface and the fruits by doing that, soggy stems ain't nice and take longer to dry.

The bathtub was found to be one of the most bacterial places in a persons home. Particularly the shower curtain.

Harvest day!
4q of RGS in coir.
Yielded about 1300g wet. No big boys, but there were a good amount of ~20g fruits.
Doubt I'll get a second flush since I've been biopsying Trich since pretty early on.
More on the way though, I'll get a pic if I get a nice pinset/flush.

I wish i would have thought of this before. Maybe these quotes will help someone else out.

36fuckin5 said: I'm gonna let you guys in on a tip to get a flat substrate every time:
Use a ruler. Simple as that.
Spawn, mix, then roughly level it with your hand (use your holes as a guide), then lightly run a ruler over it to flatten it all out. IDK why I've never seen this tip before but it will likely help a lot of people out with better pinsets.
For an even casing layer, lay down jar rings on your 100% colonized sub and use those as a guide. Then level it with a ruler. Bam, even casing every time. That tip isn't mine, I read it somewhere, maybe in TMC, but it works.
I see so many substrates that aren't level and just wonder "why?" Now hopefully that won't happen anymore.

flat, smooth, level, even, whatever you want to call it
whats that got to do with side pins though?
Smooth, flat and level are three different things. Achieve all three and side pinning is not an issue. A hill can be smooth A flat book can be not level A level slab of concrete can be unsmooth

I've never had leaks when I filled mine up to wash them. Give it a try. Don't use duct tape; use clear tape.

I know I should have referenced the shroomery before cutting and leaving this big stump. I know now it is best to attempt to twist and pull. When you have a large stump like this and can't pull then cutting (as close as possible) seems like the only option. All that aside it is my understanding that a large cluster like this is a nice place to take a sample to clone. Is this true? I know it looks like a mess, but where should I be looking to take this slice?

Put APE, AA+, and golden halo spores to agar last night also inoculated a couple yellow morel bags and expanded my yellow morel LC...LC was the only way I got any growth, I put morel tissue samples to 15+ plates with no results

Picked up this bag of "pearled barley" thinking it might/would make for a good choice of grain spawning material.
