Getting ready to toss 10 quart jars in the PC, poured 40 petri dishes with grain soak water (some didn't set? Just a few...). While the PC's going, I'm going to do some transfers, looks like I got a busy night ahead of me

I have a leftover jaw of grain spawn that I didn't use for my tub.. and I want to try fruiting directly in the jar. I was thinking I could fill the jar with tap water for an hour or two, drain out the water, then cover the top of the grains with some vermiculite (should I mist that or just leave it dry?) and leaving the lid on the jar but not tightly closed, just sitting on it. How does that sound? And then removing the lid for 30 minutes a few times a day and then misting and putting the lid back on.

An actual, cardboard shoebox? I'd have to use verm + miracle grow seed starting mix (not sure if you can use that as a sub but it seems very coir-like) or cow manure, don't have any coir.

I decided to just do it in the jar like I originally thought. Its not a full quart and it'll fruit faster this way. Now I'm off to try to find some threads to see if anyone's done this before.
