I wish people would just let their grows play out and learn from them instead of changing 20 different factors and asking for help. Seems like there’s been an influx of people wanting massive returns without ever having to fail. I’ve learned so much more from doing shit wrong then when conditions are right and I literally don’t have to do anything.

I mentioned earlier that the beauty of shoeboxes is you can easily have a dozen setup and experiment with each one. But nah people wanna be noah during the great mist flood trying to save their shoebox and write john galts speech about it.

I agree.I like doing multiple small boxes/tubs.Easy to experiment with all types of scenarios and conditions, and if something goes wrong there's less loss.

While it may look tempting, the edge of plates is more commonly where contam occurs, so ideally transfers should be done earlier, so you can still grab the leading edge of the mycelium but be well inside the perimeter of the plate. That said, as long as it's clean, yes that little busting out sector does look pretty tasty to me. I'd transfer it and then watch it close for behavior and contams to see exactly what you got.

Quick picture tutorial on how I harvest and set my monos up for subsequent flushes. I have tried both cutting and this method as well as combinations and this is what works consistantly here:
GT clone:

This is the first run on this clone and I could have used more water for bigger fruits but you get the idea.
Twist and pull groups of shrooms:

The fork:

The fork is awesome. This sub is very clean already, but when you have gnarly bacterial ones or if you cut your shrooms the fork cleans up all of that garbage very quickly. You very lightly rake out the stuff left over and then remove it.
Using a pump sprayer and UV filtered or other potable water I mist the surface for 30 seconds. Bottom water with the mister on all 4 sides (I use about 200ml.):

Pull the upper filters and wait 24-48 hours for the myc to recover on the surface. Mist as needed very lightly and replace filters. The mono is now ready for a second flush.
Typical second flush:

Hope this helps.

I’m not a fan of twist and pull just because I hate all the sub that comes with them. Nice use of the fork though

I've always had contamnation issues when I leave the stumps. The multiple flushes are where the weights at. I had to make a change.

After my first flush I usually just get random big fuckers everywhere and they just keep putting out till I toss them usually. I always seem to get contams on the sides or on the bottom where the moisture can’t evaporate but I also don’t use liners.

I don’t get contamed subs and I’ve put subs into the compost after 2.5 months since spawning.
Usually space needs or the desire to fruit a new variety causes me to get rid of them after 2-4 flushes.
My Redboy was my fastest flusher to date. I just harvested the second flush of AA+ and golden halo a day or so ago and the third flush of the Redboy will be harvestable late tonight/tomorrow morning. The second flush was picked before the second flush on the other 2. All 3 spawned the same day.

Got some spores that are showing growth on agar, do you guys transfer to new plates at first sign of growth or let it go a few days. They’re about the size of a dime currently. I was worried this old print I got from MadHatter wouldn’t take but it’s exceeded expectations. Considering putting a few wedges to wbs after one transfer just to get some jars going. I know it’ll be bacterial but I’ll take one good flush.

Lots of people say transfer at dime size. I transfer at quarter size. Some wait longer.
