I tried a bandsaw and it melted the plastic so it couldn't be unrolled. A chop saw would likely do the same thing. It shouldn't hurt the blade to try it though.
A good PVC pipe cutter works but a utility knife worked the best for me. Stab the point of the blade into the roll and rock it to enlarge the cut. I usually stab and cut over and over until I get all the way around the roll. You can draw a guide line or use masking tape or some other method to keep the cut straight but it doesn't hurt if it isn't perfectly straight as long as it doesn't get so thin it breaks when wrapping around the plates..
Well worded, that’s exactly how I do it. Stab, rock it, stab again, rock it some more. The first time it wasn’t as pretty but now making rolls of petri dish wraps is quick, cheap, and easy

It's worth a shot. What was the recovery time? Looks slightly sketchy but I've seen People get away with worse

Now that Ive transfered the RB to standard MEA recipe I'm now getting 2d growth that looks like what I'm looking for, I gess that PDA was fucked , will stick to MEA. I know where I'm going to pull my transfers for the most part but was wondering if theres a transparent leading edge on at the 6 o'clock postion and nice white mycelium on the 12 in the first picture, is the one side of this a contamination or weak mycelium?
I've only transfered from M.S once so far and I'm going to take atleast two more to keep cleaning it up, thanks again guys. Oh yeah and I woke up to some gross contams in my Pan plates
P.s. I still double wrapped my plate cause I forgot and did it out of habit so only thing I changed was agar

Can I get your opinions on these jars? Not sure if they are bacterial or not.
Jars 1 and 2 inoculated just under 2 weeks ago, Jars 3 and 4 inoculated exactly 3 weeks ago
Jar 1
Jar 2
Jar 3 - Pretty sure the first picture shows a bacterial infection
Jar 4

Sorry about the poor quality photos.

Anyone care to weigh in on why my agar plates never seem to pin. I’ve had some for over 3 months that have shown zero activity since full colonization.

Take off the parafilm and open the plate/close the plate for some air. Repeat a few times as needed.

Just don't spawn them all in one run. I personally wouldn't get away with #3

Your plates look good brother. Milo is what im currently working asm. Too wet and they dont breakup.
What works for me is 37%-40% max moisture content from 13.5% starting
I just soak em for 16-18 hrs then strain for 10min and load them for 37%. Or 16hrs soak then heat water to 80c and turnoff the stove for 30min hot water bath for 40% moisture.

Alright I'll chuck #3
I'm planning on spawning #1 and #2 to a shoe box at 1:1 or maybe 1:2 and probably the same for #4.
