The factory illustrates a mycelial cell, or mycelium in general, the input material is a substrate, the output is produced materials, such as enzymes. This is ignoring that a new cell can be made from collected materials, and illustrating positive and negative interactions.
The factory can also represent a bacteria, where the positive and negative organisms are different.

Hacksaw dawg.
Like 3 bucks at Walmart.
Also probably won't do anything to the blade.

I could see how that would be an unexpected challenge. I have proper knife sharpening stones which I was using to keep my straight razor sharp. So I just went and got my chef knife razor sharp and used that.
Razor sharp works great, just keep rocking it back and forth over the plastic wrap until it slices right through. Actually what might work well is one of those cheap break away utility knife blades.
One like this: https://www.quora.com/What-Is-a-Retractable-Utility-Knife
Go really slow and use a new blade and be careful not the snap the blade. just rock the roll under the blade on a table and it will slowly get through the whole roll.

Take it slow of your using a saw as well. It can melt the wrap together in some spots.

I tried a bandsaw and it melted the plastic so it couldn't be unrolled. A chop saw would likely do the same thing. It shouldn't hurt the blade to try it though.
A good PVC pipe cutter works but a utility knife worked the best for me. Stab the point of the blade into the roll and rock it to enlarge the cut. I usually stab and cut over and over until I get all the way around the roll. You can draw a guide line or use masking tape or some other method to keep the cut straight but it doesn't hurt if it isn't perfectly straight as long as it doesn't get so thin it breaks when wrapping around the plates..
