So I've been colonizing on one side of a room where a t5 unit has been rocking 24hr and I have decided to finally turn it off just now tonight to move to a 12/12 type schedule because I fear it is hindering my shoeboxes. Hopefully it helps squeeze some pins out or colonize faster. I'm impatient lol, even though I know better.

If your impatient try open air pinning several hours a day while watching tv, open air pinning is hands down the best results ive seen shen it comes to pinset and speed.

I havent messed with a dubs yet just mod'd N a used tp roll jammed in the lid lip i guess that counts as unmod'd haha, i find the empty tp roll jammed in the lid worked better than micropore actually lemme snag pics.
1qt clean to 2/3rds sub, micropore.

1qt same clone bacterial same sub ratio, cracked lid

Tho conditions weren't 100% identical (tub 2 received more sunlight) i believe open air circulation is better than passive filters. (Not saying canopys cant be achieved through passive fae) I open them when im watching tv in the evening let nearly all the drops evap then mist again, evap, mist then bed. It doesnt need to be continual evap/mist, i baby sit my mush doe.

I've just started experimenting with bags and I've had no clean results due to various reasons. Next I'll try som G2G in bags done in my SAB.
I do bags in a sab. Not ideal and only recommended if your technique is solid but they’ll work

I'm incredibly confused by this contaminant in my boxes. It's weird. It sort of reminds me of pin mold but it's also kind of cob webby. It seems to only be in a few spots but the boxes are still colonizing nicely and growing over the contaminated areas. Maybe my boxes aren't contaminated and what I am seeing is just wispy strands of mycelium. Or maybe I'm just full of wishful thinking. But I dunno. It just looks off. I'm going to go get a bright light and take some pics. Maybe you guys can help me ease my mind.

I've had issues with not keeping my lids loose enough, if I had a dollar for every jar I had to pull out of the sab to loosen the lid I'd be able to buy the case of plates I need lol.

I was looking at aloha medical cultures, and they recommend certain agar recipes for certain cultures, and say which ones are not recommended. They have some unique recipes. Ones that contain onion, garlic, penut butter, butternut squash soup, beef broth, chicken broth... Are they just joking around?

Yup. I think I figured out what's going on. In fact it's not even worth posting unless you want to see another slightly tricky tub with a dash of pin mold. Fantastic. Two tubs have survived. They may be APE. If so I know the source of contamination was my spawn because there were 3 KSSS and two APE's. I'm keeping a close eye on these other two though. I don't trust them even though they look fine. It could have been a lot of things this time. I did accidentally add bone meal instead of gypsum exponentially upping the nutes. Forgot about that. But I got the 5 TOC jars from my mega agar pin and two jars of APE. Sigh. These jars will be the last jars I make before I move so I hope they do ok.
Actually I lied. This is gross.

Yeah. Pretty sure. See above. Posted a pic. There was a little green too that may or may not be trich but could also be another type of mold in it's early stages. Also some pissed off looking bruised mycelium and well it smells musty. RIP. Why can't it be summer. I could have flipped these bitches in the compost pile and maybe gotten a few. Now they will rot in sadness in the snow and become garden compost.

I don't see any little black dots indicative of black pin mold. I do see bruising and a spot of cobweb mold (the stringy, spider web looking stuff toward bottom left to middle left of picture).

Too wet not enough GE and probably just a lot of shit wrong. My stress level has been through the roof so been sloppy with everything. That's why I'm not too surprised or upset. And yes upper right and and lower left. If you enlarge it and look close enough you can even see the stems kind of bluured from being disturbed by air. Fuck you pin mold you shitty bastard. Wait pin mold doesn't have a gender. Welp. Got some more pics for educational purposes to put in my contams folder.

Ah I think I see them now too.
Threw me a little bit, because most of the time said little black pins come up in larger clusters at a time.
