I’ll post this here too just in case
Anyone growing Black Poplar? Is it safe to assume (I know, I know) that the bag just gets cut off just above the substrate line and cased when they’re ready to fruit? I have 2 bags that are fully colonized and one of them has a small cluster of pins on the side of the bag

Maybe I missed an earlier post but I assume theyve been out in fruiting for a while already? Prob a week or two?
There may be something going on like bacteria that is taking all the mushrooms attention and energy and preventinf that. No matter what your best option is to do what you're doing, rehydrate and re establish optimum fruiting conditions. If they ever pin, that's how you'll get them to pin is just managing each criteria of your grow, light, fae, etc.
And you have other jars going so that's all u can do. Prepare for the worst by prepping new jars. Hope for the best by managinf your grow.
On the agar, I'm not sure what I'm seeing but it sure looks to be bacterial all around the sample plus one tiny speck of bacteria off to the side. That tells me that the tissue sample was filthy, maybe not from the donor being dirty, maybe from fumbling or taking too long while securing the sample. Just happened to me a few days ago.
The speck came in during the transfer itself, when u opened the dish and a bacteriums flew in. U can tell because it's separation and because it's small size, it took time to germinate and grow.
Your tissue being enveloped like that tells me there were many bacteriums all over it and they quickly grew together. That's how I know.
There's a chance the myc will grow thru it , I've seen myc outrun bacteria many times and even some threads of myc crawling thru a bacterial pool and then popping out the other side and carrying on - though I've been wondering if that myc on the other side might have intereeaved bacteria now, I'm not sure.
You could easily cut away from the speck that came in while you weren't being still in your still air box (this is why it's helpful to know what caused what, how do I improve)
But cutting away from the pool of bacteria you're in now, I don't have much hope. So next time that's what u want to focus on. Getting a cleaner sample somehow
Hope that helps

If you haven't already, get another round of cakes going, you should've done that a couple weeks ago honestly. Not saying this batch won't work, but no sense in continually investing time on these alone when you can have more started. . Why did you tape the lid down? You want to wrap the edge of the plate with parafilm or plastic wrap so contams can't just get up into your plate every time you move near it.
From the looks of things, it seems to me that you're just winging a lot of this. No offense bro, but you need to do some more reading.
Happy birthday! You've been killing it with the advice lately, except this

Thank you!
Ehh, I've cleaned up shit like that. It's a huge pain in the ass, but it's a good learning experience. Wasn't saying he should, per say, just that he could. Personally, I won't bother with anything that bacterial anymore, unless it's a really awesome clone that I fucked up taking a sample

forgot all about this plate I tested my LC on, looks like it grew out a little since last I checked.

Would it be a bad idea to use this to inoculate some grain?

What's the preferred method of storing a bunch of pasty plates? Is it cool to leave the foil on and just put them in a tote until I'm ready to use them. Didn't wanna keep doing a few at a time so I made a big batch this time.

Thanks tryp. Never really messed with making more than a box or two of mini rounds at a time, so I wanted to make sure the don't go to shit while waiting to be used. Just got sick of doing them so often that way.

All syringes are not the same size so what do you mean by entire syringe? Ive used 12cc in a quart before that's already more CCs than fit in a 10cc syringe

Did it colonize much faster than the normal 1-2?
