If it was an MS inoculation with just one drop / swipe in the middle of the agar plate chances are low that spores reached the edge. I have seen a lot of contams started on the edges. Fist looks like oyster mycelium and turns to something like this after some time:

Yeah that spot does look like mold, I thought he meant the clear ring around the center one lol just waking up.

Pretty sure he did mean that? Lol.. the clear ring is myceliums leading edge, the mold on the top right is a contamination

Depends where the green is. I had great success to transfer if it looked like this:

But i never do it in front of the flow hood. If I worked with agar for some time (30 minutes - 1 hour) i turn off the flow hood and make a fast transfer. Another option is to use a SAB. Should work if trich is not everywhere in the dish.
It's better to transfer before trich starts to sporulate (turning green).

Will mycelium help to germinate spores on agar?
Say I place a flec of spores on a plate, then transfer mycelium from the same species to the plate and let it run over the fleck of spores. Will this create a new strain?

No u will have cloned the mycelium. It will overgrow the spores long before they germinate.

At what point in agar donyou inoculate? Is there a set number of transfers? First plate looked great, this second transfer is growing along looking good... but I don't know what I'm looking for.
Anyone got pics of clean ready to inoculate with agar vs contaminated myc?

a clean plate you can inoculate with is a perfect uniform circle. here is a pic of what your culture should look like: ●

Well if you don't have any immediate goals, then you're just looking for healthy mycelium that is 100% clean. Once you have that you can do whatever you want with it.
Use a colonized plate to inoculate like 20 jars, take the best looking 5 and expand those into another 30 jars, spawn the other 15, and then while those 30 jars are colonizing, and the 3 tubs @ 5 jars each are fruiting, use more clean agar to inoculate another 10-20 masters. Then do the last few steps over again.
At that point you can probably take a break because it'll be hard to work with the lack of floor space because you have so many mushrooms.
Or you can just keep transferring if you want. You'll notice that it starts to behave differently as you keep isolating away some of the MS genetics.

Really? I must waste a lot of plates.. I have to be even surer than that. If it's not like, gloriously perfect I feel sketch as fuck taking wedges or making LI from it.
The tx mf and the wikidzon (I'm guessing) have some stuff going on that would make me nervous. I can't spot anything bad, I'm not talkin trash on your plates, I'm just saying... I might be wasting some of my time being too picky. That ropey business gets me skittish I guess. GH was a bitch to select a good wedge from.
