Feel free to send any PEU or APEU genetics my way for further testing and cataloging... haha
I'd love to do a few selfed or backcrossed generations of GH and APE and see if you could get yellow spores, white fruits, and PE shape/potency. My pipedream and its slowly coming together now that I have those genetics, just need to see if any of my GH print gold.

Would it be okay to PC pasty plates with PDA while I do some grain? I know pasty plates are suppose to go for like 45 mins, wasn't sure if they'd make it through the much longer grain cycle or if the sugar would caramelize/plates warp.

So when we cook grains.. The white core should not be there prior to draining or is that too cooked.
I know we want maximum internal hydration. But does the white core need to be there still? If not would loss of the white core in grains be maximum hydration?
Just looking at some of my jars and confused about the white core and moisture content.

thts why i steep oats instead of boil. its slows the process by a few minutes but makes it easier for me to get the grains right.

I do that with rye. With oats, though, 20 minute hard boil, and they're done.

I assume you do that because of the thicker hulls?

I think the idea behind the whites being there is it allows for excess moisture to be absorbed.

So I've been having issues with some kind of contaminant where water presses grain against the glass. PC'ing for 90 vs 120 minutes didn't seem to make a difference. Could improper oat prep be causing this? I'd been following bods prep but tended to go for 45 minutes instead of 30. Gonna try a 20 minute hard boil next time to see if it makes a difference, but wanted a second set of opinions.

Fuck that. Dam misinformation
My grains go in dry on the outside. Takes me 5 minutes to steam dry.
