I only run two bags in my presto 23qt, I have a feeling I can make four small ones, tried one time but didn't like how the rings I was using as separators were digging into sides.
I could probably make (4) 4lb blocks and put them all in or somethinf. Currently I'm opting for (2) 7# blocks at a time.

All of the above require nitrogen.
Orrisa cube = 21 days Surviving on coir + milligram chitin powder from pupal casing. Some plates exhibit low carbon high nitrogen growth Ill add some + sugar next round.

Yum..

seems C8H15NO6 is a good natural & resistant source for N. Chitin cycle is what ive observe raising maggot/larvaes for 2 yrs on pure food and fruit scraps during wet and dry season cycles. Their Casing leftovers grew random shrooms when i throw them in the compost pile after its been wet.. Its not just about firefangs on dungs in the wild but insects molt skins leftovers aswell.
Anyway would love to observe this on 2d agar for my coming wild pan cyan tea cleanup.
Additives (54:1) = 0.3g C8H15NO6 + 2g sucrose. 85g water > 2g agar > 0.8 tea > 0.5g-1g additive.
Also i think we can omit sugar use it like MG around 0.034g C8H15NO6 as starting point.
-specially is sucrose is risky in open air inoculation? -tea does have 3g sugar per 100g right does that mess with the ratio? -does tea have a c:n ratio of 20:1? I guess i would need to balance that.
Brother Ferather hope you dont mind my 3 questions.

This was lc>a, I'm glad I didn't do liquid expansion with this like I had originally planned.
I'm stuck with a case of jars and no inoculom for it. I've already got a case of half gallons for atl7 and a case of qts for pl columbinus.
I used some that were 3 months old

@pacmanbreed:
Update to the latest T-Gel recipe, then add nitrogen to that for testing. Then try with added nitrogen and sucrose (1.2g) for testing.
Good luck, post results please.

Cool, well considering I've been using LI and LC lately I shouldn't have much to worry about as far as dry grain.

Did you miss shroomery school the day the class talked about endospores and how "sterilized" grain jars are only afforded a window to inoculate? Come on man. I know it's general discussion but let's not post straight up bad ideas as if they were all good.

i know. ive read that. i used to kinda parrot that info. but ive never had a jar mold from 'missing' a window either.

got any good links on this window? and why is sterilized in quotes?
EDIT, and that same school taught me to soak grains to germinate endospores...

Because we can't fully sterilize grain...
I'm pissed. Went to do some a2g and can't find my spear scalpel...

then why dont my months old grain jars mold? am i ignorant to think things are either sterilized, or not sterilized?
not to be lame and quote wiki but ...
Quote:
sterilization kills, deactivates, or eliminates all forms of life and other biological agents which are present.
are whole cereal grains an exception to this? ive heard people saying that we have a window. is this a real window based off science or a window based off preferred technique?
or both??

You don't kill all endospores when you "sterilize" with a PC. You kill enough so that when you inoculate shortly after, the myc colonizes before endospores can germinate. That is the window being mentioned.

i understand that. thats what ive read and heard here before.
but that doesnt explain why things dont spoil. if some survive, then thats enough to cause spoilage, right? which i dont experience.
these grew off months old grains. they colonized slow but thats it.
shorties but that aint nothin to do with the grains.
