The previous post now says:
"If no ones following this is me experimenting with pressure cooking the uncooked grans and water directly in the jars instead of hydrating them beforehand outside of the pressure cooker."

From what I can tell, they're experimenting with using only the pressure cooker cycle to hydrate/cook/sterilize their grains.

I think she's skipping standard prep and PCing jars with oats + water in the jar, effectively prepping during the PC run. I've seen people do it before.

@ tryp, she's loading dry grains with water into jars and pc'ing them to hopefully force hydrate.

@germs, definitely let me know how that grow tent works out. If my next gh plan doesn't hold up better than my current one I might just drop the money on one. Did you get a vivosun? Those things are sexy af.

I’ve been looking at the 24x24x56 but honestly I want something a bit wider! I just don’t want a full on, walk in tent lol. Something like 24x36x48 would be perfect

See I want something big enough I have to walk into, either that or a bunch of smaller ones for individual species. My oyster tent/gh would be the biggest though, unless a different edible species winds up selling better.

So I almost got my grain to water ratios good in my jars. I got to it and gave the jars a shake much earlier so I was able to shake it apart and break it up easier. There are still a few too many burst grains so slightly less water and it will be just right. It's cube worthy though at least just not ideal. I may end up switching back to cooking my grains and then pressure cooking them if I can't get it exactly right.

If no ones following this is me experimenting with pressure cooking the uncooked grans and water directly in the jars instead of hydrating them beforehand outside of the pressure cooker.

I found most grains do well around 40 % water

Hello Fellow Gentlemen and GentleLadies

I have some Pan Cyans with mycelium root attached.
I have cut the roots and planted them into a soil pot that has dehyrdrated cow manure in. I have given them a good soak as well.

Is this a decent way of regrowing Pan Cyans or are there better ways?
More water?
Total darkness?
Put the mix in an oven?

I HAVE done some research and saw a cardboard strip box mycelial growth technique on youtube but I think thats just to grow mycelia which I already have?

Cheers

I appreciate your googling but in all likelihood it will bring me back to the wonderful wise people of this forum so I thought Id save the google hamsters from unnecessary exercise.

I have looked at how to do it but I cant see how to do it from the mycelia roots.

I just harvested my 2nd pe tub- 1st flush. The first tub was spawned without consolidation and left in colonizing conditions for 21 days until pinning. That 1st flush was nothing but blobs. The spawn for this 2nd tub was left in the jar to consolidate for a full month and put in fruiting conditions at spawn. Flushed with no blobs whatsoever. Time from spawn to harvest was 18 days

Edit: somehow i just ended up posting this in the wrong forum. Weird. Whatever. Apparently i need to sleep

Can you clarify a bit, is a month the total time that the jar was colonizing, or did the jar sit for a whole month after being colonized?
:takingnotes: Thanks

The jars consolidated for a full month after full colonization

Any invitro pinning? A month seems like enough time to start producing pins.

Sorry to ask a noob question but can someone point me to a resource for growing new shrooms from mycelium roots you took from the wild?

What would be my best bet for growing them diy style without syringes etc.

Put it in a plastic box with manure?

If this is too noob please could you point me to a thread that answers this question

Consolidating is usually referring to time spent after full colonization. So the latter.

Apples,

Were they clones/isolates? Did you change anything else, particularly FAE?

Like cron told you, it would be best to start from spores and go to agar.
You will not be able to inoculate sterile spawn with that mycelium that has been compromised.
You need a clean live culture if you want to successfully inoculate sterile grain. GL

I orginally intended to let them go for 2 weeks but i got busy and ended up having to let them go for another 2. No pinning whatsoever

I did 2 transfers from germination on agar. Everything was exactly the same except for the consolidation, fruiting at spawn, and switching to micropore over holes instead of polyfil

Edit: actually, there was one other unintended difference. I had to leave town for about a week and my girl was left in charge. Apparently we had a bit of miscommunication and she ended up misting the hell out of it everyday. When i got back it was soaked and I had to dump a bunch of excess water out. It had just started pinning at that point. I ended up with a nice pinset anyway, but i think the oversaturation early on may have stunted a lot of the fruits. I still ended up with a fairly nice ms flush, so i'm happy. At the moment, i don't have access to the camera with my pictures of the full flush in the tub, but here's a shot of the pinset and a few early bloomers
