Took some aa+ clones today. Tiny pins hopeful they will outrun anything that came along and I can transfer soon. Put my cultures to agar and then look like crap except for my ATL#7.

I've had some that just won't come off the side of the jar, that's when I just turn the jar upside down and wait until it jumps off on to the grains.

Thanks a bunch! mushlove
i’m looking for one as well After just getting my GH set up I realized I’d rather have a grow tent, seen some nice ones on the Am!
gr0wer has a list of everything you’d need for mushcult in his signature. Check out the Fischer Instruments 122.01 122-01 Precision Synthetic Hair Hygrometer he suggests. I need to get my martha dialed in too so

Sounds like a christmas present at that cost... going for a $10 model that should hold me over at least a year.
In that time I'll have enough edible experience to decide if I want to maintain or increase/decrease my output and from there can order that nice boi if I'm still in it (which I hope to be but, grad school and all)
thanks for that info!

I just use a cheap digital one. They're accurate enough to get you in the right range. I need to get a cement mixing tub to set under my gh so I don't have to keep soaking up water on the floor of it every couple days.
The next gh I build I'm building a pvc frame for it and sealing the seams of the plastic with silicone. My setup definitely works, but it's super high maintenance.

Gonna buy a 6x6 grow tent for incubation and work area for inside a barn. With exhaust piped through a merv12 into the grow room to pre heat it a little, Seems easier than building a false wall. And putting up a bunch of plastic

I just put a heavy duty shower curtain under my GH and then added some perlite right to the bottom under the rack. There is enough sticking out any side to catch dripping water (from refilling the humidifers) and from the minimal condensation that forms inside the tent. Works great for me in my carpeted bedroom.

I have both a digital and analogue hygrometer, batteries are annoying, they both are adjustable (can be calibrated). As 00Burnout said, they are accurate enough, if you go cheap, make sure it's at least adjustable.

Has anyone ever had LME go bad in a sealed container over time? My last two agar runs have had issues with the wedges not leaping off, or extremely thin & slow growth if they do. This LME has been sealed for about 3 years.

Google straw pellets and you'll see a bunch of places that have it.

Try switching your media for a while, your cultures might be tired of mea. Some grainsoak or potato dex agar might perk them right back up.

I never really understood this. Is this the idea of expanded cultures getting "sick" of the media?
I usually go spores to agar, do a T1, then use a pin from that plate or a wedge from that plate to inoculate (grains or LC). I can't imagine that these cultures that are "fresh" would get tired of a nutrient source.
If you have a culture that has been transferred many times or brought into/out of cold storage I could imagine this.
Under what circumstances are people mixing up their media? I don't see the point unless its a very old (many transfers) culture.

I’m just parroting stuff I’ve read from workman and bod and they say any senescence can often be helped with a media change . I have never noticed a decrease in vigor but I’ve never gone above 6 transfers for anything but cleaning up a wild clone. I’ve been using the same LME for around a year now with no problems. I keep it sealed in a mason jar.

Sometimes it takes lots of transfers for clean inoculate. It's not that it's sick of anything, either, it is just not working as hard anymore. Bod clamed a little bit back that the same results can be had by simply changing nute ratio instead of media
