Mine are usually pced around 17 for 20 mins. Sometimes higher. What's a ruined batch even look like? Never seen it or had it happen.

I got lots of caramelization at 20 psi. Your plates come out fine at those pressures?

Looks fine too me. This one jumped up too 21psi for a good 10 mins of the 20 min cycle.
I couldn't find a pic of it. Pours smoothly and has decent growth.

Could be something with where you live.
I get mine from a brew store down the road. Got a pic of caramelized agar I'm sucking at finding a pic..

I just baught a big bag of peat... Didn't realize it needs additives to adjust the ph.. All I have is loose coir and verm.. I'm pissed. Is there big harm in using it as is? I may just have to say fuck a casing

It'll have to be more like 50/25/25 peat/verm/coir. I mixed coir into my verm. Thanks for the confirmation, no lime neccesary right?

If I can spend a pH 4 tea bag into plain water and get pH 6.5 you can do it with the peat.
Try soaking it in boiling hot water, about 10x the weight of the peat. Give it a good squish and mix, like you are making a giant tea.
When it has fully cooled, strain it off, and place it into a pillow case, then a washing machine on spin cycle. After the spin cycle, it should be ready to mix-assemble with other things and cook as a substrate.
You can also try other methods to strain the peat, use whatever you need.

I have a bag of mea that I have used a few times and every time I make a batch the agar ends up really gooey and doesn't stick to the plate. At first it sticks fine but after a day or so when the condensation goes away and the agar gets slimey. I was using 6.5 grams to 120ml water and then tried 7grams to 120ml. Should I add more mea or maybe add a gram of telephone brand?

Sounds like a shitty premix, that's why I never buy that shit, it's a lot nicer to be able to control your variables. Add more agar if its not stiff enough

Don't you have a bucket or even an old sweet tub, something that can hold about 2 or more liters? Soak 150g of peat in 1500g of boiling hot water, until it has fully cooled, you can also repeat the soak. Here is acidic pine (pH 3.8-5.4) being hot water soaked (test sample), then end pH was closer to pH 6.5. The water was full of removed acid's, some of the acids are broken down.

Hmmm, good old phenol's, try the phenolic acid known as salicylic acid, see the data here. You can try adding grapefruit seed extract, see here. There is also other sources.

So I kinda messed up and put the peat in the water before it was boiling, will this still work, I'm worried about fucking up the ph with no way to test it
