That creamy look the myc has is a tell tale sign of bacteria.

What are those lumps? Maybe invitro, but if the sub hasnt colonised and that happens it usually means you have bacteria and you will never get 100%. You could clone one of the fruits though.

OK so my suggestions for the comp is its an ongoing thing we have 2 threads for each.
1 for people to post their method i.e photo of clone, steps and fruit veil break plus time i.e 20 days 4hours ect and one for the leader board
I will write up the clone to veil break comp and maybe Pasty could write up the BE comp explaining what that is and how to measure stuff(I dont know), again maybe it could be from a clone? Maybe for fairness it can be from a cone from a MS grow in both.
Anyone wanna chip in

Its an irational competition... Unless all grows came from the same proven clone then what are you actually measuring?

I was thinking fun and to see what the quickest grow was from clone to veil break. If anything it would be interesting to show people how quick this can be done.
We could break the rules down to a clone from a ms grow clone and just enjoy it

I have a little rack that will fit in my SAB now. I'm curious how to use it. It's on the left side. Should I open my pasty plates (say three at a time) set them upside down on the rack open, on the right side, scrap up my print into scalpel, use my left hand to lift a plate, right hand to put spores into plates, set plate still upside down directly onto lid, push down, seal?
That sound correct procedure?

This sounds ok, but I was advised by a TC that if you get half a dozen swabs put them in foil and steriles them for 40 minutes. You then do every thing you just explained open a print, Swipe across it, pick up the plate and make an s shaped swipe across the agar. Dismiss the swab and move to the next print/plate and do the same. I have just ordered a loop after C10 advised me to but this has worked for me for 3 years so go for it.
Upside down is great. Mold cant fly.

I like to use sterile swaps from the pharmacy. They are cheap. It is a clean way to do print to agar with a sterile swap but I also had a lot of plates that did not show any signs of germination. Especially with old prints i prefer to rehydrate them in a syringe. I had no luck with a 5 yr old Na Muang print using swaps. I made a spore syringe let it sit for one week and inoculated 5 petri dishes (2 drops and spreading it gently with an inoculation loop). Now I have growth on every of the 5 plates.

I'm having a hard time finding sterile swabs. I've looked by the bandaids at both Walmart and rite aid. No luck. May have to ship to store

If you cant find sterile ones just use cotton buds and pressure cook for 40 minutes

No it can't, but can air waft those mold spores up in there? It sure in the fuck can and will... If it couldn't then we could all just throw our SABS and hoods away and work upside down, but we dont... Because we cant... Because it does... Do one plate at a time. There is never EVER a reason to have the lids off of three things at the same time in a SAB... You only got two hands man.

Thats why your hoping your SAB is working plus upside down gives extra protection.
Of course only open 1 at a time. Missed that bit.

Yeah because you gotta unfold the last fold on the print, swipe the swab, open the agar lid, swipe the agar, put the lid back on... Thats a bunch of movement... But you can get 3 lids loose to where they are just sitting on the plate, then swipe one, then bam go right to the next one... I'll do 3 plates per swab... There are plenty enough spores on there to do 3, and the cross contamination between each is negligible.
