What do you think causes that to happen?
I hit 12 pf cakes and 3 are colonizing pretty slowly the other 9 show nothing 4 days later. Grain jars same situation.

Not per se, it could be a contaminant that's bothering the mycelium enough to keep it from growing, and it could also be growing without being visible yet. Could also be a contam that doesn't even like grain.
Testing on agar first will give you better results.

Same clone in all three
Those look great, especially the second tub. How long from spawn to harvest for you on those? My clones, when young, were taking 19-21 days to harvest on average. The tubs with those clones on maybe the 4th G2G were like 27-30.

I’d guess hidden bacteria as well. Thats the big downside to LC’s... when they’re good they’re great but if they get a hidden contam they can bite you in the ass, have seen wuite a few experienced cultivators lose jars to that shit. Watched Azur lose a shitton once. Bummer man.

You wont see bacteria.

Last week I had to throw away 2 WBS coir shoe boxes that had no recovery 5 days after spawn. Smelled like death but had nothing visible growing in them.
Also had another tub with fast recovery on the WBS inside the bulk sub, but then they suddenly stopped growing. The same smell and nothing else visible.

I have never used wbs. However i never get bacteria on agar from suspension, only prints. I usually wait at least few months before using the syringe. I find it is almost always my grain prep as i would only see bacteria on agar from prints. It seems like a lot of cultures on the board lately get condemned as bacterial. I am leaning toward shorter sterilization times for most of the bacteria. I go at minimum 120 minutes @ 15psig and havent seen bacillus or any bacteria since.

Thanks man, these were spawned on 1/6 and I’m planning to harvest tomorrow evening if they’re ready so that same time frame. Last time it took at least 3 and a half weeks I remember so it’s an improvement. I have another 10 qts about ready to spawn so I plan on doing a mono and some more smaller tubs

That's fine. Growth will be slowed a bit though. Ideally room temeratures (68-72) is desired.

Does anyone know a good writeup on the composition of hydrated lime to be used for pasteurizing? I have this kind.

Correct.

Depends on what is being pasteurized with the lime. If being used for a wheat straw pasteurization bath, use 1 cup per 10 gallons of water. If using the lime to spike the ph of a 50/50 casing layer use .25% of by volume of dry peat only.

I just read certain minerals in lime that are too high can cause issues. Something about the percentages. I can't remember where I read that and I want to know if this composition is suitable.

That's stuff is high in magnesium, high magnesium screws up fruiting.
You want 97-99%: calcium hydroxide, example here.

I thought that was what I read. Bollocks. Shit useless lime. Now I need to get rid of it. Maybe the store I got it from will let me exchange it for something else since I didn't open it.
