What would you guys say is quicker? Grain to grain colonization or LI?
I have a few LI jars that are taking quite nicely, I'm soaking some new grains right now (and I have 5 viable plates at the moment, not from clone samples).
I also have these 4 half filled quart jars of rye berries that I agar'd because I didn't want to waste them (pantry moths were making the rye berries there home).
So with my new batch, I can use the rye jars or LI again, mostly going for speed for this one.

It all depends how far you expand. If you G2G a quart to 20 that is gonna take a lot longer than a quart to 10. A quart to 5 would be really fast, you might not even see recovery on your LI or LC before the quart to 5 had finished.
G2G can be very fast if you take care with how you expand.

What's the best method for G2G? Break the grains up by shaking, then pour? Or can I use a tablespoon or something and scoop it out?
Sorry for noob question. WBS agar etc I'm all playing with now, but still new to me.

A tablespoon is a vector, something you're putting over your jars that you can't guarantee is 100% clean. So yeah

Have you ever tried GS2G . This is worth an experiment on.

I think my next G2G I'll try breaking it up and doing the pour method. I'm using mapp gas for this big ass spoon and it's slowing me down.

Just give that spawn jar an extra wipe before you pour. U can never be too clean in that SAB.

See speed is cool but I'm more about the BE. Most yield per quart of spawn
