Interesting. I can't say I have seen any temperature based changes like that, not yet observed it.

It's not temperature, it's light. Tmethyl did the test, I remembered it wrong, and cronicr remembered where to find it

Rings are causedQuote:
cronicr said: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17566840#17566840
Thank for the link cronic.
Ambient window light is beneficial to promote rhizo colonization in agar. Mycelium Strands loves to grow towards the window.
confirmed that rings arent caused by temp fluctuation if bacteria or piggy backing contam is absent. This sat in huge fluctuation near a window ambient light.

3 out of 5 dish proved clean from this plate with same environment.

Temp Flactuations are even beneficial in checking piggy backing contams.

And higer negative ions during rain & thunderstorms. Just like bein near a waterfalls and feelin good. Those invisible energy also plays a huge part.

Good theory mush. Maybe you also have higher negative ions in you area while feelin good.
But im wondering if evaporation is lessen if humidity inside a chamber is 90%+

i dunno but my point was, stop misting your SAB
mine is static. as in it never moves unless im loading it. i keep it up 24/7. so spraying the box would disturb the still air thats been still for the longest cause its always there.

Mush, do you do the whole 9 yards when you SAB? I turn my AC off and any fan in my work space off.
If you do do this, then don't you think the air would still get stirred up as you walk around, open doors, do anything after you've returned air circulation to normal ? I keep my box up 24/7 too, I'm just curious. Do you think that air stays still all the time?

Isopropyl?
I have to wipe down my suface and feel good about what I'm doing I guess.
That's bonkers dude, but hey to each their own.
No closed door?? That would give me anxiety lol.
I do remember some cat posting on here last year about his old lady vacuuming while he did SAB work on the coffee table.

yah its bonkers alright. makes me think im lying or im fucking delusional. i need to work on my fruiting skills ...but who doesnt
but how i do sterile work blows my mind. its like a blind man seeing or a shaky hand person doing lab work on drugs in a bedroom.

your anxiety will cause the contams. not the open door. zen shit man. SAB work... zen. be the air.. be still.

I agree about the anxiety making me make mistakes. I just take the steps that make me feel at peace with my work area.
But zen and peace aside, I wish we could light up particles in the air in our box and watch them for a SAB session.

Defenitely would love to omit spraying rules and pain staking wiping on my next sab work.
I also notice water pooling under the light on top of the sab after an hour of work that makes me anxious and higher contam rates towards the end of work.
I feel Evaporation is a vector on this.

i have... before i poured my SAB pasty plate contam rate was ..okish.. my inoculation contam rate was embarrassing.
first time pouring. doing everything. i was damn near about to go on an apollo mission. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24188899 need to update that post...

bod even said looked like i poured in open air. I FOLLOWED ALL THE RULES. so over a few sessions i dropped everything and just said fukkit, poured like it didnt matter. no gloves no rules. just relaxed worry free pouring. ZERO CONTAMS.
last pour.. i didnt do shit. just wet iso gloves and good technique.

true. to 'knock down particles'. but if set up properly, the particles are already down. spraying in itself. stirs up the air.

am i?
