Clone mostly
Some have this strange gel like substance that formed at the bottom looks like agar. I'm going to assume is heavy bacteria. But time will tell

If it's as bacterial as you think 12 hour recovery is insane

Different jars same lc pour. I just saw the 12 hour recovery time and shook the rest of them. Some had that agar substance some did not.
I assume everything I have is bacterial just some more then others. Except my lc that shits clean

Lol nice. I hope my atl7 lc is clean, I'm pretty sure it is, my sterile tek is on point most of the time and it's looking pretty healthy. I just put it in cold storage until I'm ready to use it, haven't decided if I'm going to noc up more quarts or buy some half gallons and do those.

I usually can tell visually if my LCS are clean to an extent. Growth patterns, time of those growth patterns, and clarity
Using the biopsy method i usually don't have growth for the first 5 days so anything popping up before 5 is automatically suspicious to me.
Edit oh got an atl print today going to agar tomorrow. I originally woke up too do it but back to bed.

bacterial LCs are easy to spot. josex mentioned too look out for lazy cultures that just sit at the bottom/foggy broths. awesome advice.
straight up contam LCs i can only tell by extremely faint but grainy texture of the myc and if yoou let it grow out, the surface can have satellites pop up like on agar.

Mine usually start at the bottom but don't stay once growth develops.
I yet too see one start in the middle. But if it all stays on bottom probably too the toilet
This is the cleanest my work as been in for fucking ever.

This is my first lc, it colonized in a few days from a wedge. I let it sit around for awhile to see what would happen and I gave it a swirl every time I walked by it to reoxygenate the broth.
It got a little swirl shortly before I decided to take the pic and set it in the fridge, hence the bubbles.

I like that clarity that's automatically a good sign Imo. I've been diluting grain soak water because I had a bunch and I'm loving the clarity. Even at higher concentrates the lack of sediment is nice.
Even put some toothpicks in an lc too see what would happen.

Looks like they like the toothpick

I'm using the same ratio of malt extract to water as mushboy. He posted an lc awhile back that was super clear like this and I decided to replicate his recipe because everyone likes a nice clear lc.
I expect some crazy fast colonization considering how fast this culture was as an li. 6 days to full colonization if I remember correctly.
I haven't been keeping notes since I stopped growing cubes and everything is so chaotic now, especially since I have 3 different species of mushroom going right now. I've got to get shit back under control, being this disorganized is bugging me.
Edit: I might try some toothpicks in lc for my oysters and transfer them to agar, maybe give those cultures some vigor.

Haha yeah that one! Has it been sitting at room temp this whole time? I only put mine in cold storage because I didn't know how long it could sit out.

Clear lc
I'm literally drowning in clean lc.
My li seems to go faster then my LCS considering li already has colonize solid matter not just liquid.
I let my poured lcs sit for 5~ days then shake. Shaking early Seems to dry the grains out quicker pointed out to me by another member. Also not shaking will make any spores germ on top. Then of you shake around live mold mycelium or bacteria you know that jars fucked quick.
Seems like a 3 hour pressure cook at 18psi is how I get decent spawn (maybe..)
Suppose paying $14 for 50lb of rye has it's drawbacks.

Well eventually I'll put this lc to grain. I was waiting till mateah had his tamps ready for grain so I could have a batch of jars going for the grow along we attempted but he's having shit luck getting them to germinate.
2 hours has always worked just fine for my oats, even 90 minutes has worked but I'm skeptical about doing it for less than 2. I only paid $6 for my 50lb bag of oats.
I've read that truffles take on the taste of the substrate, hopefully that's true because I love the flavor of oats.
I need to play around with different agar recipes, I've only ever used MEA and usually do 10g/10g to ~450mL and just recently reduced the lme to 9g. At least then I'd have something to use this bag of brf for.

ive got higher strength mae documented in mmy notes but i either forgot to record, or never did 1% mea
people should play around with agar % more. i like finding what works best for me. the results can be rather contrary

I usually do like 7-8 grams lme and 6-7 grams agar for 430ml~ . How well do stones like oats? I have 50lb just sitting around because I finally got my rye prep down. Would be cool to use them for these atl.
