Wouldn't the external hose need to be sterilized as well? How would you accomplish that.

Boiling water or steam. And a clean in place system between use. Rinse, caustic, rinse, sanitizer halogen or peroxide based, then heat sani/sterile to push out the chemical sanitizer.

It would have to be done during the cycle. Since your pulling a slight vacuum I'm sure your pulling unwanteds into the hose.

How about we just injection steam into the jars during the vent step instead. Good catch
It would look like this haha https://zipbier.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/fixed-piping00001.jpg

So you'd be injecting steam directly into the jars while it's pushing the dirty air out thru a ge hole. Then using the same hose that would be steam sterile at that point to push lc directly into the jars.
This isn't very practical but it's fun to think about.

Wouldn't forcing steam directly into the jars fuck up the water content?

your call, some say yes some say no, I stopped using them, one or two of the bottom jars had a little moisture on the sfd but I made my rtv shaped like a volcano so most rolls off and doesnt sit on the filter to absorb. Just upgraded so Iβve only ran about 30 jars with the new lids so ymmv. Will report back if everything gets fucked.

Okay, thanks.
I normally use foil, I'm about to try and clean up some bacteria on agar with some brf pucks. I foiled up my syringe of water and ran out of foil.
Past self not looking out for future self
I've got unmodded lids.. I think I'll just use those.

I suddenly remembered old knothead cupoagar from mushgrowers who cultivated only using ports, 18g syinges, sauce containers, bunsen, draftless room for agar work without a sab. Your biposy methods are in comparisons to his just a single piece of a puzzle. I miss that old dude. I wish he was here.

Mateah said: Ahh itΒ΄s those lids that snap down and lock in place after a really short turn, and open as easy. And clamp down like a madrfakr, more hermetically than any other lids IΒ΄ve seen. I bought 24 of them but for 3dl jars, just gotta find me some qt jars that match the lids
Josex are your lids also coated on the inside with some rubbery plastic all over?
Sactly dude, that's the description right there, could not have put it better myself. Love the 'short turn'. They're also durable as hell.
How is it you found lids separately? It's always jar and lid for me. Whatever, you need to get a fleet of jars for those lids cos they kick fucking ass.
I bought the lids together with 3dl jars, really cheap. But would like to find qt jars that fit these lids. I was planning on always having one if these lids with me in my jacket so I can pull them out real quick when IΒ΄m in stores looking at jars. IΒ΄tΒ΄s gonna look criminal when I test the lids out in the store

Yes, the part of the sub that needs pasteurization has been pasteurized; adding verm won't change that.
