Somewhere around August I got it. The box did look a little beat up and dusty. I really didn't see an issue until winter really set in and the humidity dropped. But I had since fixed my house humidity issue. Seems to of helped a little. From now on, I'm just going to make sure I cut strips long enough for double wraps.

I've never heard of parafilm drying out. My roll is over a year old and we are in a fucking desert here...I notice it will crack/tear at the seam of the 2 plates from time to time but you can always throw another strip on if needed. Here's the size I have and I just cut them off the thickness of a plate ~15mm.

This length should wrap around the plate at least 1.5-2 times. If you're really stretching it out, it will tend to tear more...

I think that some of my plates have a sharper edge then others, and with the parafilm pulled tight, it cuts thru it. It also solves my random satilite contams that would show up out of nowhere.

I feel ya tookitooki, I've tried a few different brands of plates (can't remember which) and some do have sharper edges. The ones with grip rings are the worst. Anymore I just double wrap my plates to be safe, it's rare that I get any satelittes these days.
I also wrap my plastic one piece lids, just in case the pc warped them enough to allow contams in. My contamination rate in jars is pretty low, out of the 22 jars I have going I only have 1 that has mold. I'm going to case it and fruit invitro in my gh (atl7)

The lab I worked in a few years back the rolls of parafilm lasted over a year just fine sitting out on a bench. We only used them to wrap yeast growth plates. The QA plates went in a special anaerobic incubator anyway so they didn't get wrapped at all.

Mine dried out. Once it starts to peel away from the paper I get worried of dust and other unwanted contaminations getting onto my parafilm. Which makes me a little anxious to wrap with.
I got fresh parafilm, put it in a ziplock and in a store box. I also cut up a cling wrap roll just in case.
I feel like my box sat in the heat in a delivery truck too long, and that's why it peeled away from the backing. Not sure, just an opinion.

I harvested my first tub 2 days ago and i am super happy with the results i ended up with 57.4g dry i had to toss it cause it triched out on me but i am still happy but the 1 question i have is why after almost 10 days of the caps being open didnt the fruits drop spores? I only got 3 prints from the whole tub. I know 3 is plenty but i was wanting to spread the love. I also have a tray of the same variety CRS in my sgfc and i checked this morning and the dumped spores all over. I know its probably because the difference in humidity. If not what makes the fruits hold spores longer in a tub than in a sgfc? Sorry for the long post and if its a stupid ?

If it was ms it could be genetics, sometimes you can get mushrooms that don't sporulate.
Here's an article explaining the growth of spores and their dissemination. https://www.anbg.gov.au/fungi/spore-discharge-mushrooms.html

I doubt it would really make a difference, but I don't have the experience to say really.
At this point you've made it further with cubes than I ever did.

Is there an edible species that is as easy to grow as cubes?
I know oyster is relatively easy but to get good fruits you need a Martha or similar fruiting room. I want something I can do in monos and shoeboxes but also eat and give away.
I know I can utilize my monos for reishi antlers and intend to do that once my culture arrives, but it’s not like you can make a meal of reishi!
