What do you guys usually pull off a Petri? Lol. 2 grams wet first flush. Ate them and it felt like a strong micro-dose, I have a low tolerance.

Thanks everyone. I saved my MEA charcoal plates that I took transfers from, they grew out and colonized the plate, then like 10-20 colonized oats were put on top of the colonized agar and a few days after they were cased with CVG.
Here's a picture of the bottom

Very nice, and also proof you can use end media like agar and isolate growth. First time I've seen Cubensis fruit using a similar small setup.

I just learned that mold turns agar into toothpaste in the worst way. All the jars I pc'd with mycelium were fine but the few mold jars were just paste. There must be something in the enzymes it uses to break stuff down that destabilizes the agar. Anyways fucking mold paste. Yuck. never again.

Since you will be using grain and coir, why not try isolating growth on coco coir + trace flour. Then transfer your growth to grain spawn with 10% coir as grit, then to substrate.
You should end up isolating growth that does well on your end media. Adding other additives is also an option, for testing.

Why would you PC moldy plates lol. They're getting trashed anyway. Or dumped if pasty plates.
They autoclave plates that have pathogens on them before disposal. Molds tho big deal. People get more mold on old bread

TBC, you take too many precautions in the wrong areas, to prove my point I've been sitting on this pic I took of the outside of the grain bags I get my wheat from produced > I don't have a pic of them mature but it produced 25g dry from a single quart

I wish I could just tuck some jars back and forget about them for a minute. I still enjoy looking at them daily to watch the progress...sometimes twice in a day lol.

@Munchauzen , I said end media "like" agar, not agar, like so:

----
Question:
What is better?
1) Isolating growth on a sugar based agar media, and isolating growth on a decayed substrate format. 2) Isolating growth on the end media, where enzymes are producing sugars-other from the media.
