Not a big deal...gonna clean my work area and buy new lids and start over... I figured the dakron would be alright for a few runs since thats the shit they use to make boat seats...I know better now...thats what I get for cutting corners
Just scored 56 ball brand plastic lids for $25...I'll be picking up more sfd's to make filters for said lids...

Nice score! I love plastic lids, it's so much easier than screwing with 2 piece metal lids. Do you wrap the edge of the lid where it meets the jar with parafil/saran wrap? I do it for added security.

I wish you could buy single peice metal lids in bulk. I hate the standard lids and the plastic ones.

True that! Single piece metals are awesome. If plastics didn't warp over time they'd be way better imo.

Mentally debating between these and the plastic ones rn, will probably get some of each.

We shall find, out. But I'm sure they'll hold longer than the plastic ones

Yeah since switching to one piece lids I’ve had a greater success however they do feel awful flimsy for being shitty plastic

what do you mean?
Mine(unmodded) have been through 30+ (and some whole a lot more) pc cycles and no issues yet.
just get the ball brand and don't screw them on tight during pc and they'll be fine.
should last forever imo

I have plastic lids coupled with SFDs that have been through hundreds of cycles. No issue.

except I'm using ez felt and micropore... I'm worried about the metal ones rusting before the plastic would/could ever warp.
Hell I stack my no pours in the pc 4 high and with all that weight from the glass and agar on the bottom lid and it still spins like butter.
literally I just flick my finger and it spins itself on/off. They work better after pcing a time or two.

Other than being unsightly rust won't bother anything.

Just curious will plastic pp5 lids from a sponser warp of turned tight with a sfd? I notice some have become convex.

It could be that the Kerr ones blow, or maybe I occasionally tighten one too much but they are going out too much for my taste. When they don't screw on easily anymore I toss em

I buy the Ball brand lids in the green boxes and while they have held up you have to admit they are flimsy as fuck lol you can crack one in the palm of your hand if you wanted to. I just expected nore from a brand name product.

Mine have been through a few pc cycles and only feel a little warped, have since the first run but they haven't gotten worse. I think they're ball.

not like your at war with them
I have very rarely cracked a lid but it can happen. I am very rough with them imo.
in what application could they ever crack?
I've tossed 55 gallon trash bags full of them around my cement floors garage and no damage. that's about as rough as it gets for them.
if your ball lids are warping you must be tightening them too much while pc.
wals mainstays brand is crap in all my experiences except maybe with regular mouth but I wouldn't risk it.
I know pasty uses another brand but I would just go and get any plastic lids. If you have access I can vouch for ball for hundereds of cycle while still freely spin with a flick of my finger.
