I fruited a bacterial TOC jar because it was growing a few shrooms. The bag doesn't look so bad but I do have these bizzaro mutant cubes that are just basically caps stuck to the substrate. I wonder WTF that's all about.

I just read that most filter fan units provide laminar flow since they are used in cleanrooms and labs(wikipedia)... I just googled Hepa filter fan unit TBC...and the one I bought is similar to the specs as the ones that popped up..so I think you'll be alright.. Don't trip out on it

Woohoo! Now lets just pray someone doesn't decide they need 20 clean room units before I cash my check on Friday.

Just got in my transformer!!!
Didn't do any work with the hood yet as I still need to fix the wires up properly (the transformer's connection is not the same as the hood's connection) but it has a proper flow, something like the max flowrate I feel comfortable working in on my other hood. Didn't test across the filter area with a lighter either since I'm holding wires together to start it up. Since it's coming from the same lot, I'd say you're good buying that one.

If people want to use clean room hepa panels to run as laminar flow hoods then fine, but there are valid reasons to not use them and frankly it seems like poor information that really shouldn't be shared as a correct way to do things...

Should be able to. I think I built mine for about that.
Filter was $150 shipped from eBay.
I sourced my blower off Craigslist. 1st one was $20. It was 3/4HP, way big, and I used a speed control to dial it back to 25% power. Well I left it one for like 24 Hours at full speed. It blew the fuse in the seed control and fucked the blower. The second one off craigslist was $50 for a 1/3hp. Cost a bit, but works great with 2 prefilters and no speed control. I paid more than I would have liked, but had to had the hood back up and running ASAP.
I had an old cord laying around for it. The prefilters were just a couple bucks.
Plywood was about $15 a sheet but I made a MISTAKE HERE. I got 1/2 inch thinking it would be thick enough, but was trying not to build it to heavy. DON'T DO THIS!!! Get the 3/4 inch plywood as you can drill a screw straight into it. With 1/2 I had to drill pilot holes so not to split the wood. Then I had to put some 3/4x3/4 strips inside for some support.
Beyond that it is just screws and silicone.

I would add that getting pre finished 3/4 inch hardwood plywood worked really well here.
F.P. filters come from these guys I think: https://www.hepa.com/

It's definitely doable. If YOU can do it depends on how resourceful you are/can be and how much you shop around for a filter. And also on how it should or shouldn't look.
Basically all you really need for a hood is a filter and a blower with cabling, and 5 sides of a box with a hole cut in one side. Don't use a simple cardboard box, of course, but in terms of design, that's all there has to be to it.
If you are willing and able to take wooden panels from closets or whatever dry wooden boards you happen to have available, and have some company near you that does HVAC systems, and a bit of people skills to ask them for a free used blower, then you could even drive it as far as only paying for the filter. And there was someone in the marketplace giving away a filter just a few days back so if you're REALLY lucky, you can even build one for free. Lend some tools from a buddy and not even THAT is necessary to have. You'd still need to buy some construction glue or silicone, and enough screws to make a bed collapse or something *cough*
And those 5 box panels?? If you glue 4 panels to a wall, you wouldn't even need the 5th
But in all seriousness, a flowhood can be had for WAY less than what most people seem to think. I built my own one for over 500 and ended up buying one extra just as large, used, a filter fan unit type, and it only cost me about 150 shipped.

Just those 12...maybe something I couldn't see was in that master...but the thing that made me think it was good is how quickly it recovered after the shake test at 100%..it recovered completely in a little over 36 hrs...honestly I think it was due to laziness this time...I didn't change out my dakron and it was nasty when I washed my jars after pc'ing them
